Marybeth McCaffrey (Kellie Martin). On the brink of graduating from college, her world is shattered by the death of her grandmother, Rose (Marion Ross). Marybeth becomes responsible for the care of her mentally handicapped mother, Sarah (Mary Steenburgen) and will have to give up many of her personal hopes and dreams. Torn between the love she has for her mother and a desire for her own life, Marybeth is faced with the most difficult choice she will ever have to make.
