A passionate team of people works to save the lives of three Mongolian children with life-threatening heart defects. Graduating college senior, Cissie Graham Lynch, granddaughter of evangelist Billy Graham, takes on an internship at Samaritan's Purse working with the Children's Heart Project. This project is dedicated to saving the lives of children by providing medical procedures that aren't available in many countries. Cissie's task is to supervise the arrival and surgeries of 3 Mongolian children suffering from fatal congenital heart defects. These children, ranging from ages 3 to 18, hail from the Western mountain valleys near the Kazakhstan border, to the arid Gobi desert, to the destitute urban sprawls of the nation's capital, Ulaanbaatar. Without help, these children will die of their heart defects-time is running out. But the three Mongolian children and their mothers must first make the journey to a country they've only heard of in movies and say goodbye to their families for the first time. Meanwhile, the reality of Cissie's newly married life to a professional football player begins to interfere with her commitment to the project. The Children's Heart team turns to a passionate Texas boy and his family to travel to Mongolia to help bring the children to San Antonio for their surgeries. In Texas, a hospital and a team of doctors and nurses volunteer their time only to stare directly into the face of life and death, while two host families sacrifice to care for these children and their mothers. It's a fight for survival, a fight of faith, and a fight for a new life for these 3 hearts.
