Annie Weaver longs to experience a simple Amish Christmas once again. She no longer lives in Mufflin County though. She works in an Englischer hospital - far from her family, far from her friends, far from the community that nurtured her. The Christmas season is in full swing in the outside world, bringing for Annie an overwhelming sense of loneliness. That loneliness and Annie's rumschpringe years come to a screeching halt when she receives a call that a car has collided with her father's buggy. She hurries home to look after her father and comes face-to-face with Shayne Troyer - an Amish farmer still grieving the loss of his wife and child. Annie upsets Shayne's world with her youth, energy, and passion for healing. Slowly she begins falling in love. Christmas Day once again brings Shayne a glimpse of the family he could have had. It's a sacred day - a holy celebration - that reminds both Shayne and Annie of God's promises and forces them to consider the depth of their faith and their love for each other.
