Writing models appear throughout, helping to set expectations. PART II--Models In Part II lessons, writing models provide students with points of reference for their own writing. Models introduce writing forms such as descriptions, narratives, expository essays, opinions, and summaries. In Books 3-8, there's also a model for writing research reports. Lessons begin by asking students to read a writing model that responds to a sample writing prompt. Helpful writing tips are provided. Students learn about and practice using graphic organizers.
