This new edition of a popular text presents an accessible yet comprehensive primer that helps readers understand the breadth of viewpoints on major issues in evangelical theology, with chapters using the popular three- or four-views book format. The authors carefully examine positions taken by evangelical scholars on seventeen seminal issues. They lay out the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for each position in point-counterpoint fashion and discuss possible objections. The second edition retains the helpful features of the first edition--end-of-chapter "For Further Reading" sections and an extensive glossary--and adds an appendix that addresses thirteen peripheral issues in contemporary evangelicalism.

Joshua: I had to buy this as a textbook for one of my classes for my B.A. in Religion through Liberty University. This book is a great quick-reference book for a wide variety of controversial issues within evangelical theology. Each section chooses one topic within evangelical Christian theology and presents a short essay in favor of each view on the topic. After reading the book I had a deeper appreciation of the views of other Christians on various topics. You wont be convinced by every essay, but you will know where people that hold to that particular point of view are coming from and the book will help you to evaluate whether your beliefs on various doctrines are well founded. I think this book promotes tolerance and diversity within the evangelical framework, while also making the reader aware that, while we agree on many details, evangelical Christians to agree on the essentials. Highly recommended!
