Cremation posted in Get A Clue on 8/19/10 @ 6:20 PM by Sarah

I know this is sort of a morbid topic, but here goes! =)

I was thinking about a friend's funeral, and that led to thoughts of my grandma's memorial service. She was cremated.
I'm just wondering if it is okay for Christians to be cremated. This topic has been debated in Sunday school, in my family, and I still don't have an answer.

well I believe it is ok because seriously after about a thousand years bones turn to dust anyway what would the diffrence be? if the new body we get will replace our old one?

Marvin - 8/19/10 @ 9:05 PM

That's seriously a HARD topic..

Surely bones will crumble but wouldn't that be dishonouring the body because you simply, just burn it.

Of course I could use a comparison but I don't know if it is that SUITABLE.

"Premarital Sex" is basically also just "sex" without being "married to each other". It is considered wrong but some don't...

"Cremation" is basically just the process of the "bones turning to dust" without "nature taking its time". It is considered fast and clean but some people consider it a serious offense to some people.

I know that this is not a "great" comparison but to get the message across, it's hard to debate on whether cremation is good or not...

I personally don't like cremation, it has the style of containing a disease and of eradicating all traces of that person.

ya I guess thats true to bad it is not a definite thing in the bible...
but we are trapped in these bodies that are barely even a glimpse of what they should be so I wouldn't mind the body to be dishonered when I am a spirit
but also that is just me I also have the fear when I am dead of a lazerith moment and I wake up in my coffin and sufficote to death that would have to be the worst death to me

Marvin - 8/19/10 @ 9:34 PM

Don't worry andrew, you would die of CO2 poisoning before you'd choke...

Alyssa Faith Mark. Rep - 8/19/10 @ 10:24 PM

There is nothing wrong with cremation.

@Marvin- It is not dishonoring the body because you would be , therefore it isnt your body anymore. It is our worldy body.

PutHisBloodOnIt - 8/20/10 @ 6:18 AM

Yeah creamation is fine, like previously stated after a few years your body is breaking down nasty bugs and worms are eating at the body and sooner or later its gonna cease to exist. By simply be cremated your basically doing the samething, after our souls are not in our body, its simply that just a body! In heaven we will have a new body, I can't wait for my new body!

CraigSnedeker - 8/20/10 @ 6:31 AM

I agree with MuSiC_LoVeR on this one ;)

Andrew - 8/20/10 @ 10:21 AM

@ Marvin I guess so not much better in my opinion though lol

@ PHBOI I totally agree I can't wait for my new body either!

Marvin - 8/20/10 @ 10:22 AM

Well, fine you guys may have "outsmarted" me but still, I don't like the idea of cremation XD

Anyway, thanks for the rebuke :P

PutHisBloodOnIt - 8/20/10 @ 10:35 AM

Marvin its not about trying to outsmart anybody, we all come here and give our opinions sometimes we all give and take. And a lot of people just don't like the idea and that's fine also.

Marvin - 8/20/10 @ 10:46 AM

PHBOI,

I wasn't attempting to turn this into a contest.. I was just admitting that my thesis was rather, wrong. That's why I say that I've been outsmarted.

But yea PHBOI God Bless :P
