We have the choice between sin and life. That is pretty free in my will.

A stranger thing to think about is, if God already knows that a child from birth will choose the sin lifestyle and go to hell, then would it be fair to say God could never even reach out to them knowing it wont do anything? ( but id say free will)

agreed. God made us to have free will. To choose to love or reject him. something that is forced to love you doesnt truly love. Hence free will in my opinion at least

God is a God of integrity, He doesnt slack off and only reach out to His elect. He gives every person an opportunity to come to Christ. But, I believe in free will with a calling.

If God programed us all to serve him what purpose would it be for us to exist? He would have no joy in us loving him cause he made us love him.Like mentioned before we have free will, and he does know what we will choose but it does not mean he controls what we choose.

I believe that we have free will but before we were born God knew what decisions we would make. So I believe we had free will to a degree. How else would we have fallen from Grace.

Yes God knew man would sin thats why he also had a plan to save us from sin before he created man. Just because God knows our outcome in life does not mean he controls it.

Mans Free Will to do Good or Evil:
Throughout Scripture the Bible continuously instructs mankind to make righteous decisions by free will. Many persons misinterpret a few verses to arrive at the false idea that mankind does not have a free will to do good or make righteous decisions. Below are some verses which strongly show that mankind has the responsibility to exercise his free will and is commanded by God to do so.
-Deuteronomy 30:11 "For this commandment which I command you today [is] not [too] mysterious for you, nor [is] it far off. 12 "It [is] not in heaven, that you should say, `Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it? 13 "Nor [is] it beyond the sea, that you should say, `Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it? 14 "But the word [is] very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
-Deuteronomy 30:15 "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 "in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 "But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 "I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong [your] days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Well, I tried asking a theologian and my church elder about it and I have been deported to a book, which I havent read yet..
But as far as I know, God knows what well choose but he lets us live so that we cannot stand before Him at heavens gate and call him a judge who hasnt even given us a chance to live. So as to say, we have a free will, God just knows what well choose but his love toward us gives us the privilege to live no matter if we will go to hell or not.

Okay, I believe God has given us a free will. But, no matter what road we take, He has a plan for that choice.
And God knows what choices He wants us to take, but we as humans dont always follow His voice. If we deviate from something He wants us to do, He also has a plan for that road.

I believe that we have free will but God know's everything that we are going to do before we do it. The whole reason He sent Jesus to die for us is so that we could have free will to decide the way we live our life (and to forgive us of our sins too of course) so yes God knows everything we are going to do before we do it but we decide what we are goung to do to.

Ok so I just found this topic I believe we have a free will.
but by saying God already knows what you are going to do that eliminates free will because it was predestioned to happen but think of it this way as if time was a line on an infinite piece of paper. The paper around the line is God he is at the beginning and the end of it and everywhere inbetween because He is outside of time so He knows because he sees the first sin to our time now at the exact same time and the future the same.

what you guys believe is called Limited will not "free" only God can have free will. if your will was for something that was outdside of gods will would you be able to attain it? only one will overcome who is in control you? or GOD? and besides if man had free will no one would be saved.. its within mans natural nature to NEVER choose God. man is evil to the core and loves sin so much that he would not part from it even if given the choice.the only reason we are saved is by gods soveriegn mercy and the fact that he gave you a new nature in order for you to seek him. in other words ALLOWED and CHOSE SOME to be saved.

I'd have to say absoulte free will in my opinion we were created in his image and he gave us "free will" even the angels could chose (lucifer and his army) but we have free will so it has to be something more than chosing

Like stated before just because God knows your outcome and knows what you will choose does NOT mean God pre determined it. If God pre determined it than there would be no Joy for him when we choose to serve him. Problem is everyone tries to fit God in a box and make sense of his decisions and they way things work that adapts to their way of logical thinking. Sorry but it don't work that way! Just because we can not make sense or grasp situations such as free will and God already knowing our decisions does not mean we have to make sense of it. Truth is we will never be able to wrap our brains around somethings, Gods ways are not our ways!

I totally agree PHBOI the fact about the box is us trying to fit him inside of time when he is quite the opposite outside of time and it is hard for us to grasp because we can not imagine what it would be like to be outside of time looking down in c.s.lewis' mere christianity he explains it very well.

God has a path for us, but we have free will to make decisions that can change that path mildly or drastically
