Sarah - 8/2/10 @ 7:14 PM

My friend did a surprise attack on me, so I am...now. It was like, we randomly started talking about Facebook, and before I knew what hit me, she was creating my account! =0
So..Im one of 500+ Sarah Whites...good luck finding me if you havent already! ;P

But, I dont want to go crazy over the thing.
And hey, hey, hey all who are already friends!!! =D

debra - 8/2/10 @ 7:18 PM

Lex - 8/2/10 @ 7:19 PM

debra - 8/2/10 @ 7:24 PM

yeah lol i looked u up and there was a good bit how bout u look me up its debra dantin

Marvin - 8/2/10 @ 7:33 PM

I was (past tense), I deactivated my account... I wasted too much time on facebook. Ever since I quit two things (including Facebook) I suddenly have 8 more hours daily to do other things...

If you want to look me up, if I am still on the list...
Marvin Huckels

(I should be about the only Marvin with that surname)

Marvin - 8/2/10 @ 7:34 PM

I checked, my name cannot be found anymore... Sorry peops, I wont join again ;)

Japlace - 8/2/10 @ 8:16 PM

"But, I dont want to go crazy over the thing." - Sarah

This is exactly why i dont have one! lol. It will suck you in. Even if you say u just check it every once in a while,it will be very addictive! User be warned.just saying..

Lex - 8/2/10 @ 8:23 PM

I honestly can say I have not been sucked in. Myspace on the other hand, oh man, when I deleted that bad boy, suddenly I was blessed to keep God my number one ;D

Vanessa - 8/2/10 @ 9:11 PM

I have facebook. Ive heard Im hard to find though. I disagree about being sucked in Japlace :P It takes some serious willpower but you can beat it.

Scotty - 8/2/10 @ 9:14 PM

ME!

Sarah - 8/3/10 @ 7:26 AM

Thanks for the warning, Japlace. I know I could go really crazy with this, but I fully intend to exercise a lot of willpower. But...probably no crazier than I do here sometimes! ;P I can spend HOURS on this site...
Now, I will say c28 is probably a lot more edifying (unless I remove my cousins from my friend list... ;P)

The thing I DO like about Facebook is I can connect with my aunts, uncles, and cousins--and I NEVER talk to my cousins. But, I only want to be friends with my friends and family--not some random hooligan who wanders along.

But definitely thanks for the advice! I wasnt going to get Facebook...and I do know that I can delete my account.

*Edit: Wow. So...I just connected with my moms long-lost cousin! So...for things like that, its kinda neat to be on Facebook, but I know you also have to be super-careful.

Japlace - 8/3/10 @ 8:21 AM

Now you make me want a Facebook! (a little bit lol). I would love to connect with distant family. hmmm. idk though!

Do any of you have stories about being addicted to FB? maybe some more advice?

jake - 8/3/10 @ 8:39 AM

Honestly, it doesnt really suck me in. I have spent over 5 hours on it once, but that was because I was IMing a suicidal person and sharing the gospel. I use mine as a ministry tool as much as I can. My status updates are usually for God, not me. Facebook is what it is and addiction is done by the person, not the actual URL

Marvin - 8/3/10 @ 8:52 AM

I have been addicted to facebook, when I quite it I suddenly had more than 6 hours freetime a day :P

Seriously, its not about willpower but about setting priorities.

GOD
Grace or Death

Thats my thesis, a little facebook is ok, few friends, ministry tool but to connect with friends... A bad idea... I have seen pal who uses facebook and has 1.8k friends but he uses it as a ministry tool.

Japlace, you can join Facebook if you want. Just heed my advise. NEVER bookmark it or set is a homepage nor add people just for fun. Rather Email or Instant Message than Facebook.

Jake, my status updates were for God too. But just randomly sitting on facebook attempting to chat with friends can eat hours/days... I must side with you though, its the mans heart that devours him and not the objects of this world...

Vanessa - 8/3/10 @ 9:43 AM

If you dont want to get addicted to spending countless hours on facebook, I would recommend not starting to play the games that are offered on it. Major waste of time.
I mostly use it because pretty much all of my friends live really far away and its nice to be able to see their pictures.

Marvin - 8/3/10 @ 1:43 PM

I dont play FB games XDD Never did...

Sarah - 8/3/10 @ 5:00 PM

Haha, I know. My aunt and cousin are crazy into the facebook games, and I think its nuts.

I am planning to set, 1. A day for facebook (visit it once per week--maybe twice), and 2. TIME LIMIT!!!!! Because, I know it can be crazy when youre chatting with one person and another comes on and starts talking to you, and its like "Urgh!!" how do I get off????
But seriously, it can be a good thing.
And, I actually find it half-boring. =)

I would cancel my account if it were not for the staying in contact with people.
But NEVER randomly add people just to get a big friend list. =)

the_underdog - 8/3/10 @ 5:36 PM

lol i have a facebook because its the only way to keep contact with friends and family when im on deployment. :D

serena - 8/3/10 @ 11:23 PM

@ jake, im with ya! i use it basically for a ministry tool aswell :) loves it!
