So I just had a meeting with my old luthren pastor (Missiouri synod) and he wants me to become a pastor for the synod... but our beliefs now are a bit diffrent. The synod believes that the pentacostal way of life is wrong that you cant feel God which I now "partially" believe you can (in some ways, but that is for a diffrent time) another thing they believe is that rock and roll and such are bad... but I am totally against that but I am a person that has trouble saying no and really standing up for myself. what I believe is centered around a diffrent church and when and if I become a pastor I want to go with those beliefs so how do I tell him I believe a diffrent churchs teachings over his?

No I disagree with a few other things those were only examples but I agree with the church I go to now more than the old one.

First make sure you want to pastor and are called into it. Those who teaches the word of God will be judged harder than others. And make sure you teach the word of God not adding or taking away nor preaching about what you feel is right. Tour old pastor could be teaching what he thinks is right but does not line up with the word of God.

If you yourself dont believe what is being taught, why would you teach that to others? Your heart has to be completely dedicated and immersed into what youre teaching to get the message across. Im not going to bash your old church b/c I cant say they are right or wrong. I just think if your heart isnt in their message, you shouldnt teach it. I hope that helps you, Andrew. I know its tough to make a decision like that.

PHBOI I have read that verse and That is why I put the if in there (I should have put if/when... sorry). They are by the bible but the way it is taught and some of the teachings are off it is a "motions" church "stand" sing a hyme "you may be seated" things like that make God seem boring.

Right I get what you mean, there is the way the elders in the church are use to doing things and there is new styles of preaching and worship. I believe we should try and hold some traditional ways such as singing hyms etc.. mixed in with new contemparary praise songs. The word of God is for everybody but there are different ways of preaching the Gospel with out changing words or meaning, I guess its all in what type of person or people you are trying to reach and what message you are preaching to them and in what stage of life they are in.

PHBOI- I know exactly what you mean but how do I tell him that I dont believe how he teaches is not right for me? because all missouri synod are supposed to teach like that.

Well if I was you I would right down what you dont agree with and search the bible to see if what he teaches lines up with what the word of God says! Maybe somethings he says are right and u didnt know it and maybe somethings are wrong and you can write it down and respectfully show him. Do not be intimidated by him or be afraid to discuss this with him. He should not be offended he did not write the bible and you and everyone he teaches deserves to be preached the absolute truth. So be very organized and write all the things down along with where you found it in the bible and sit down and discuss it with him.

i believe you must go with your beliefs and not anyone else.
this past december i was home on leave, and my parents had moved to a different church. a church they felt comfortable with, and it had all the rules and regs of an older church. hymns, memorized prayers, that kind of thing. and i didnt like it. i learned there, but i worship God and learn about Him in a different way. and they respect that. everyone should worship God as He made them to do.
