just thought Id share posted in General on 4/25/10 @ 4:17 PM by DaughterofEve - DoE

A question asked pretty often is how a loving God can let so much suffering go on in the world.

Saw this shirt that I think puts it into the right perspective. http://www.christianshirts.net/buy197lovinggodhellapparel.php

Scroll down a bit for a close up.

Anyways, just thought Id share. :)

See ya,
DoE

Hahaha, touche!!!

Alpha - 5/1/10 @ 10:04 PM

Pretty lame. :)

Of course, that mindset justifies every murder and evil deed thats ever been committed...because hey, its only what justice calls for!

DaughterofEve - DoE - 5/8/10 @ 6:35 PM

the people under the law dont determine the law. how can they justify their "evil deeds?"

Derrick - 5/8/10 @ 7:51 PM

Wow i like it I would wear it...to school...It would be an awesome witnessing tool...plus it is funny with a good message

jay.me - 5/10/10 @ 1:34 PM

That doesnt really an explain how "a loving God can let so much suffering go on in the world." -Just brings up more questions.

*like*

Alpha - 5/12/10 @ 9:20 AM

Jay- Exactly.
And whereve ya been? Havent had to argue with you lately :P

DaughterofEve - DoE - 5/12/10 @ 2:27 PM

I never said it explained anything, in and of itself. It just, like I said, puts it into the right perspective in order to answer/explain. In order to answer anything, you have to have a foundational understanding, right? :)

lol, its purpose wasnt meant to be a DEEP Q and A shirt. X]

Plus, questions arent bad. Id rather someone ask me instead of just acting like they understand or keeping their questions to themselves. They might be super important and foundational questions.

Hi John and Alpha how are you guys?

Hi (DOE)

The shirt has the question "Would a loving God really send people to Hell?"

With the word "loving" crossed out...and replaces it with "just".
--God is love AND He has perfect justice. You cant really just cross out His major quality to try to put a doctrine into perspective can you?

It supposes a loving God could not possibly torture people. ...but that it would be "just" to burn someone forever?

It crosses out the word "people" and replaces it with "sinners". ...which is what all people are.

Then says "Yep, PS Jesus saves sinners" Yes he does.

But the question is from what? A burning eternal torture or remaining dead in our sins?

And still, that does not address the question of suffering now.

DaughterofEve - DoE - 5/18/10 @ 10:51 PM

Hey, Jay. :)

The shirt isnt denying or trying to get away from the fact that God is loving. Its merely focusing on another of His attributes.

Its not our place to determine what the "just" punishment should be. Does a murderer determine his own punishment? No, the higher authority does. The One wronged (God) dictates the terms of justification. "Justification is the judicial act of God whereby He declares the guilty sinner to be righteous and free from guilt and punishment." Yes, the punishment is severe, but so it the trespass. The punishment fits the crime. But He is offering us a way out of it through Jesus Christ! Its amazing :D

The question "How does a loving God really send people to hell?" goes right along with "How does a loving God allow so much suffering?" Hell will be a place of suffering, right? In my opinion, this world is a mini hell. I dont mean that disrespectfully. Yes, there are still joys to be had, but, when get down to core issues, this isnt a good place. "My kingdom is not of this world." Why would Jesus have said that is if this were a good place.

Hi DOE,

You said, "The punishment fits the crime. But He is offering us a way out of it through Jesus Christ! Its amazing :D"

I agree. The punishment does fit the crime. And Jesus is the only way out. Truly amazing! Such a loving provision from God =)

What was the crime?...Sin, right? And we are all guilty of sin, perhaps not in the same way as Adam did, but we have all inherited it from him as his descendants.(Romans 5:12,15)

So what is the punishment for sin? (Romans 6:23)
God told Adam that he would die, --death was the punishment. (Gen 3:3)

That is why we all die, we are all born with sin. (1 Cor 15:22)

Jesus paid the price for our sin. What is the punishment?...not eternal torture, but death like God said.

To be Just, if Jesus is truly the lamb of God, and He is taking place for our punishment (and you believe that the punishment is eternal burning hell) He would still be in hell being tortured.

But our punishment was death, and Jesus died and took our punishment. He was in hell(the grave)for three days
--He truly is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He paid the price for our sin, the price was death.

(Rom 6:23) "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

In doing so, He has offered us the free gift of life eternal...(the same as what Adam lost for us all)...Jesus ransomed it back.

And what of those who refuse the "free gift" ?

Will they burn eternally? ...no, the punishment will stay upon them.
The same one we all received....death. You can only get out of the punishment by accepting Jesus ransom.

Does that mean if you believe in Jesus and put faith in His ransom, you wont get sick or die now?

No. The promise is still in the future. There is much suffering now as you know. And God helps us to endure.
But, when Jesus as king of Gods heavenly kingdom, applies that ransom to mankind THEN the promises will be fulfilled.

"But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory." (1Cor 15:54)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(DOE) "this isnt a good place. "My kingdom is not of this world." Why would Jesus have said that is if this were a good place."
Jesus said his kingdom was not of this world because it is a heavenly one.
Why isnt the world a good place?
(Gen 1:31)"God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day."
It is only bad because of sin (which causes death) and Satan and his followers. When God cleanses the earth, and those are removed, it will be as God made it, and meant it to be.."very good" =)
I love to answer questions, if you want to ask more or disagree go ahead. =)
jay.me - 5/19/10 @ 10:40 AM
Not saying I have all of the answers, ... but I love to discuss Gods word =)
DaughterofEve - DoE - 5/19/10 @ 7:49 PM
haha, no no, I agree with everything you said X] Its always good to bring up so much Scripture :)
jay.me - 5/21/10 @ 10:20 AM
Isnt the Bible is such a wonderful gift to us from God? Without it we would all be totally in the dark. --you know unless Jesus was still on earth or God was using means like in the Bible times. =)
