Another perspective on Tatts posted in Get A Clue on 2/5/13 @ 10:06 AM by Sarah

Not trying to start an argument here; I know this is a hot topic, but here's another perspective on the tattoo debate. Honestly, even if we do want to use Leviticus as an argument against tattoos, how much cutting is really involved? Scarification, yes, but regular ink tatts?

Enough cutting is involved that it disqualifies you from donating blood with the Red Cross for one year. Otherwise, you can donate every 60 days or six times a year; that is an awful lot of good on a totally selfless act.

Romans 14. Just go and read the whole chapter. :) If you dont want to read the whole chapter (it really is small guys) Then just focus in on the last half, verses 13-23

I have tonnes of ink and it's all biblical verses or something to glorify God. Back in the day they used to literally cut themselves and throw ink in it and it was really nasty and dirty. Now they have proper tools and proper aftercare. Also, it was considered pagan during THAT TIME. Back in those days people would put satanic things (mind you still to this day as well). I think it depends on what you tattoo on yourself. If you believe tattoos are bad then you must believe piercings, makeup, and hair dye are bad too. All cause damage to the body. Piercings are holes in the flesh filled with metal, makeup wrecks skin and hides natural beauty, and hair dye damages the hair severely. Go by what the Spirit is telling you. There are so many people who are quick to judge someone with ink - I know this very well. But I can tell you that I am close with Christ and nothing separates me from Him, not even my tattoos. My first one was Psalm 147:3 which reads, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Before I was saved I was a cutter, and I ended up getting this scripture tattooed on the very wrist that I used to cut. It's very personal to me. I prayed about it a tonne before I got it, and after a while the Spirit told me to go ahead. All I can really say is pray about it! Tattoos aren't for everyone, and if not done by an experienced artist or properly cared for they can be lethal and the very opposite of artistic expression! And for those of you considering and worried: They really aren't that bad. It doesn't bleed tonnes at all, and it just scabs over during the healing process. The only downside is that it feels like a cat scratching you until it's over which after a while makes you want to, forgive me, punch the tattooer in the face! But it's well worth it! Take care everyone xoxo
