Purity ring after... ?? posted in Advice on 12/3/12 @ 12:25 PM by emilie

Hi, so here's the deal. I had a purity ring, then had hard times and years, and decided to "not follow its meaning" and took it off, and lost the ring shortly after. I came back to my senses and beleifs not that long ago. I felt guilt, shame etc., which with the incredible help of a wonderful youth leader, I have overcomed. Now my mother gave me her 10th aniversary ring(since it doesn't fit anymore). I want to wear it as a purity ring, since I know from now on, I will be keeping myself pure(emotionally and physically) before marriage, but when christians notices it they start talking bout it and thei stories and all, and it kind of feel akwars since I wear it, but have not kept myself pure before marriage two years ago until this summer...what should I do???

I'm really glad to hear that you renewed your commitment of purity! It doesn't matter what other people think, say, or do. We must live a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ. You know in your heart that you have done the right thing by renewing your commitment to stay pure before marriage. With God's help you can stay strong and honour that commitment, no matter what others think. Perhaps God is giving you opportunities to tell others about how you re-dedicated yourself to the Lord. Don't give up. You've done the right thing, and the Lord will give you strength to carry through on it! :)

exactly what kingskid said!
you could say you 're a "reborn virgin"

We all make mistakes. God is forgiving and He loves us and is ultimately concerned with our hearts. Yes, sin is horrible and shameful, but Christ died for us and washed our sins from us. Isaiah 1:18 says: "“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool." The ring isn't a symbol of your status as a virgin or not, it is a symbol of your heart and commitment that you make from this day forward. I think that if the ring reflects your commitment than you should wear it proudly!

I agree with Stephanie :) Don't let others judge you--your sins are erased and you are free in Christ. Remember, "no one can make you feel inferior without your consent." {Eleanor Roosevelt)
