Question about sacraments at Church posted in Advice on 9/12/12 @ 9:04 PM by Jonathan

So every Sun at my Church they offer the 2 sacrament's, Flesh and blood. Well my concern is this, I ALWAYS take the body of Christ but have yet to take the blood of Christ, reason is because ppl drink off the same grail, it keeps cleaned off with a rag ya but iam a HUGE germ freak LOL. Does this make me not as whole?

I mean I want erernal life (Who does not? LOL) but its hard for me because of what I stated.

Thanks everyone!

No, it does not make you unwhole. I mean, it's important to take part in communion to remember what Jesus Christ did for us, but it doesn't make you unwhole by not drinking from the cup. It's not like you can only take part in communion at church. You can do it yourself at home or with friends and family to remember what Christ did. :) If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior then you are saved and promised eternal life.

I agree with what Elena posted. Taking part in communion does not provide you with eternal life. It is accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord of your life which give you the gift of eternal life. John 3:16 states this very clearly, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE."

The communion is symbolic not literal. There is no literal blood or body present in communion. Nevertheless it is important to do so in remembrance and in a proper posture of heart.
