The best advice I can give, is to not plan immensely for it.

When we make lots of plans, and wait for the 'best possible' time to fast for God, we usually have missed the 'best time' by that point. (*Proverbs 16:1 "We can make our own plans,
but the LORD gives the right answer")

God wants us to live for TODAY, and let tomorrow worry about it self. (*Matthew 6:34 "So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.")

SO, today think about God... dwell your thoughts upon Him during your day. You don't need to get on your knees and close your eyes. Instead, rightnow, just thank Him, ask Him to protect, provide and be with you today.

As todays clock ticks by, and meal time comes, just begin to thank Him and praise Him! read His word, maybe just a few scriptures. And when you get hungry, thank Him again! quote/memorize scriptures about how God is our bread and that He provides our needs.

If we dwell on Him, rather than our need, our need will be met through Him.

If you want a good chapter, or more specifically a passage on Prayer and Fasting, I encourage you to Read: Matthew 6:5-18 or the entire chapter)

I have also found with fasting that it is good to decide ahead of time "I am fasting from supper/coke/tv etc..." because once you get to that time (meal-time, coke-time. ;) ) it is easy to think, I'll do this tomorrow. Once you are fasting, as Japlace said, get into the Word of God and pray. When you are tempted to go back on your commitment, pray and read the Bible some more.

Very true and good stuff, KingsKid.

Just wanted to clarify about what I meant by dont plan too much.

Like KingsKid said, you should set a Mission or goal ahead of time. Something to keep you focused and to strive for.

But as far as big plans, and too many plans, I mean you should not plan:

~Month or Years ahead of time - such time spans leave room for many challenges (at least on an individual/personal fast)

However, don't think that any plan is too hard, or too big to accomplish!
