Never been so confused in my life, I am wanting to be a better all round person, So I've been Praying nightly as usual asking for signs an guidence on how to do so. Ive been seeing signs an iam starting to follow them an I feel a diff presance about it all (A positive feeling!) but my question is this, I have a Religious background but lets say I attend a diff Church to help get that closer relationship with God and to live as closely as he did, an I get baptized at that Church. Does this mean I automatically take on their Beliefs? Or can I get baptized at that Church an go every Sun but continue believing in what I already believe?
Sorry if this makes zero sence(Hope it does LOL) but I just need advice from a diff perspective.
Thanks!!

I am an infant in the faith, but having been baptised in August I will attempt to answer your question. When I was baptized I viewed it as making a commitment to Jesus and to follow HIS way not any particular church. I go to a different church today and I have no intention of getting rebaptized ever again because I view it as a one time commitment which does not need repeating. That commitment does not change no matter what church I will ever go to. I don't know if this helps but it is my view of it.

SITS is right, baptism is an act of obedience to God. Baptism is a command. "Go into all the world making disciples and baptizing them in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
It is not essential to salvation, but it is essential to obedience in following Jesus and was always paired with salvation. (paired as in as soon as someone got saved they always were baptized immediately).
With any church, you must look at what they believe and decided if it is Biblically sound, but you must also do this with the things you have grown up believing.
Always interpret your life through the Bible, never interpret the Bible based off of your life experiences. :)

Thank you so much you guys!, means the world to me!.
Also Stephanie can you explain what you ment by what you said last?
"Always interpret your life through the Bible, never interpret the Bible based off of your life experiences."
I kinda understand it LOL =)

Well, there is always a temptation to try to use your experience as a guide for how you live instead of the Bible, and its subtle. I have even found myself going "well, scripture says this, but I feel like this." Its just kind of like a motto. lol Scripture must be the only way we interpret things because how we feel and our own human experiences will not always "prove" what scripture tells us is true. We have to know what we know is true even if our experiences cant prove it. lol
Im bad at explaining things. :p
