I have to get a second molar extracted, and I'm pretty sure the oral surgeon said he is going to give me laughing gas and Im pretty freaked out by that stuff. I really dont want it, I just want the novocaine shot. Have any of you had an experience with laughing gas????

I've never had it. When I got my wisdom teeth out I just had the normal freezing. It was enough.

Don't sweat it. Laughing gas doesn't really make you laugh, it just makes you feel loopy in a good way- so loopy that its funny. It might make you giggle a little. Also it works just as well as novocaine. I couldn't tell the difference.

I had it for my wisdom teeth, and it really wasn't as big a deal as I was told (some awesome friends on here were teasing me about seeing unicorns and singing, but that didn't happen). You do get giggly, and some people do say strange things, but it's not a big deal. Just don't let stories influence you--you need to get a good amount, or it won't help (I didn't have as much as I should've).
