I want to start a student led prayer group... But I dont know what steps to take first. Im also horrified that nobody will come. I go to a school with only like 200 kids. But I really want to make a difference. I was thinking we will do it 15 minutes before the bell. For ten minutes we could do some silent prayer, and then for the last five minutes I could do a verse, and then pray together really quick. What do you think? Improvements or anything? Also prayer for me would be nice! Thanks!

That sounds like a GREAT idea! and if noone comes, well that is something that a can fix. and Rome wasnt built ina day. i say that to encourage you that if only 1 person comes the first day it doesnt mean its a bad idea, it just means more prayer, and time.
I think 15 mins is a great idea, cuz its not too long. so its easy to fit into a schedule.
and i think that the prayer shouldnt be silent. Theres power in agreement. “ 19 Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” - Matthew 20:19-20. if you all join together in prayer, and pray for eachothers needs, well then as Matthew says, God is with you.
Dont let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game. pursue this idea Mandy! :)

i think a Bible study group would be better... prayer is a powerful thing, yes, but if people would simply read the Bible and take it to heart...well theyd automatically pray all the time!

yes, but shes talking bout right before school. maybe they could bring their Bibles and share a verse or something, but a entire study group wouldnt be practical within fixteen minutes before school, ya know?

o ok, ya.

mandy, i think one of the best ways to get something like this started would be via facebook
Japlace - 3/22/10 @ 9:41 PM
maybe :)... there are alot of things to be done, its the means of doing them that is the issue.
I do not have a facebook so i cannot help in that area, but i would start with your Christians friends at first, and then as you get more comfortable praying and discussing, then invite others so they can be involved and potentially changed by the love of God.
Be sure to pray by yourself before the prayer group. and nothing is lead without a leader, so pray that God would give you the strength and courage to lead this group. i think its a great idea, but without leadership it will be forgotten. so pray, and just start with your close friends, then pray that God would increase your group and see what the power of God can do! :) He has the power to save your entire school, Mandy. dont under estimate with your prayers.go boldly before His throne and ask these things in His name.
When two or more are gathered in His name, He is with them.

Honey, dont allow fear to cause you not to do this. If you feel that God is calling you to do this than you cant ignore the call, if it is just two of you to start with, or even just yourself, it is more than there was before. I know that its hard and scary but imagine the different people that may be affected by your dedication. Pursue God with all your heart and you will see great things happen! Eventually God WILL bless your efforts, it may not be immediate, or even in your time at the high school but He will bless them. Im praying for you and your school.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. - 1 Timothy 4:12
As this verse says, it doesnt matter your age, but tour example.
You can have JUST AS MUCH impact on your school as the Apostle Paul could have. just have faith in God that ALL things are possible. “...With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” - Matthew 19:26

Me and my friend Jesyca wants do the smae thing at our school but what should we do? Can you give us some tips.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 8:03 PM
These previous tips should help :)
But, i suggest prayer, prayer, prayer! For the time being, focus on your relationship with Jesus. nothing else. u cannot lead anthing without the help of the Lord. become friends with Jesus, talk to Him like Hes always by your side, for He is always there, we just fail to recognize Him.
