What do you think? Should Christians support Obama?
I dont believe so. He doesnt seem to live a Christian lifestyle, and believes in many things, and DOES many things, that are against God. He may talk of God sometimes, but hes very deceitful. Take a look at this video for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0YuYxYOXtI
He also supports abortion. I would elaborate on a lot more right now, but Im really tired. I just wanted to create this topic as soon as possible because I just thought of it. Looking forward to your responses!

yes and no.
Yes in the fact that in Romans 13:1-5 it says: "1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience."
So we need to respect those in authority(Obama) cuz God has put him to be the President for a reason.
Now, no because of all the whack things he believes in and the actions he makes as a human. he doesnt follow the commandments (at least his lifestyle does not reflect good qualities).
he doesnt make decisions that go with what he swore to do for this country, in respaect to that he doesnt even agree with what on EVERY peice of our currency thats in circulation today: In God We Trust.
Obama needs our pray and respect. although this is EXTREMLY har to do, God has placed him there, and we shouldnt be scared of him, but boldly go before him and tell him the things God wants for him..and the things that this country needs, and to go back to the standards that our forefathers BASED this incredible country on, IN GOD WE TRUST!!!

ABSOLUTELY, we should. Its pretty uncool if any Christian voted for him while knowing what he supports, but its just as bad for any Christian to speak evil of him while hes in office. The only time were permitted to do ANYTHING against what our government says is when they try to cause us DIRECTLY to sin. For instance, if they had passed tax-funded abortion (praise God they didnt), we should still pay taxes. We are not responsible for how they use what is required of us. They will have to answer for that. See, even in Pauls dayChristians were urged to pay the due tax. What was tax used for back then? Well, for one thing, Rome had a HUGE army it needed to fund. What did that army do? Well, many things, from taking new lands by force to crucifying innocent people (take Jesus, for instance). You think unborn babies are innocent? Try Jesus.
So, no, we are not to obey when our government tells us to do something against God. Take Daniel for instance, when Darius commanded no one pray to anyone but the king for thirty days. Daniel went and prayed three times a day, as was ALREADY his custom. Take note that he did not pray simply to defy government - it was already his custom to worship God in this way. If he DID wanna defy the government, thats be spite. He wouldnt be worshiping God. He would be sinning.
We as Americans in general think that dishonoring our leaders if we dont like them is a Christian thing to do, simply because weve been taught that its just fine to do so.

ummm...i didnt vote, but i def believe that you should submit to authority figures and people who are in a higher position. it also says it in titus 2 also. because if we dont, what does that show for us believers to people who dont believe you know what im saying?
John - 3/22/10 @ 7:08 PM
i believe we should respect the office...not necessarily the man. i will only support SOME of his decisions. i wont go out of my way to break the law or anything...but i will not say that his policies are amazing. cause they arent. also, respect doesnt mean we cannot protest...
Alyssa Faith Mark. Rep - 3/23/10 @ 7:41 AM
Like what John said, I respect the overall office, but myself I only support some of what he wants.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 1:12 PM
But the Bilble says to respect those in authority, not the chairs they sit in.
John - 3/23/10 @ 7:35 PM
i cannot respect a man who lies to the public, and a man who wrote off the future deaths of millions of unborn children...i will respect the law...but not him.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 8:06 PM
I agree. i never said i respected Him or if i didnt. just said what the Bible said.
God knows what He doing. He sees thing that we cannot see.
If we do not respect him, we need to pray for him. he above most people need our prayers...
John - 3/23/10 @ 8:08 PM
oh, i pray for him all the time. also, our church prays for our leaders every sunday.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 8:13 PM
same.
also, did hear what the United States Vice President, Joe Biden said the Obama immediately after the deal was passed? it was not a word that our second in command leader shold be saying on national tv.
I was disgusted that the man representing our country used such foil language. our ENTIRE gov needs pray bro. but i have no doubt that u already do.
John - 3/23/10 @ 8:18 PM

jay.me - 3/23/10 @ 10:11 PM
I respect the authorities, but do not put trust in man to make things better, but in God. =)
Psalm 40:4; Psalm 118:8; Jeremiah 17:5; Isaiah 2:22
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 10:23 PM
But you are putting faith in God so that He can strengthen and guide man, right?
I believe we should put trust into God that He leads our leaders. and i respect our gov and pres because God commands it in Romans 13. but i respect them because i know God is in control, and HE can cause them to make good decisions. i wont deny its VERY hard to respect Obama tho.
Kristen - 3/23/10 @ 10:29 PM
Yes. I voted for him and I will support him.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 10:33 PM
@kristen.
Are you a registered Democrat?
And tell me what you think of the thread named Abortion. reply to that one with your opinion, plzzz...?
Kristen - 3/23/10 @ 10:37 PM
@Japlace.
I try to not associate myself with a certain party. When I vote, I thoroughly research each candidate, and vote for who fits my criteria the best.
Japlace - 3/23/10 @ 10:42 PM
So tell me why you decided to vote for Obama?
What values, morals, or whatever did you find in him that made you decide to vote for him?
