I love the celtic trinity knot with the circle hitting each point. It constantly reminds me that the unity that we find in the trinity should reflect in us as believers and that keeping the trinity at the center of our lives will continue to strengthen us.

that is sad and creepy.

I love the celtic trinity. I am actually going to get that tattooed on me.

John - 3/19/10 @ 8:35 PM

what is sad jay?

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 8:22 AM

~People who use those creepy symbols in any form. So they say they changed it up a little. ~why use it at all? "Quit touching the unclean thing." The pentagram (~broken or not)and the celtic trinity knot (http://www.whats-your-sign.com/celtic-knots.html) have nothing at all to do with Christianity. But youll probably do what you want to, like a-lot of people professing love for God, myself sometimes also...that is sad.

Actually Jay, Celtic Christians used this symbol representing the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You should reread what LittleMiss wrote, what she wrote was perfect.

John - 3/20/10 @ 10:34 AM

how would a broken pentagram have nothing to do with christianity? it is a symbol of our victory through Christ over the devil and sin.

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 12:07 PM

Mad hatter the doctrine of the trinity is debatable too.

John -easy, it doesnt. Who says it symbolizes that? You? The guy promoting his group? So.

~All I can go by is the word of God. =)
I dont need any image to use in my worship to God.

Daniel L. - 3/20/10 @ 12:10 PM

i think jay will like my favorite symbol...

the SWORD

Japlace - 3/20/10 @ 12:47 PM

Well, NO symbol is more symbolic than the Cross! but other than that, my favorite symbol would have to be the Not Of This World symbol. and im not saying that cuz this is the NOTW site lol :) but i just think its pretty tight, and it has an awesome message that gets you thinking bout ur purpose in this world, and its just rad! :)

John - 3/20/10 @ 12:53 PM

i am not saying they are needed for worship. and why doesnt it...to use your logic..who says it doesnt symbolize that? you?

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 8:27 PM

K3T do you mean the sword of the spirit, Gods word...yes =)

Why do people need visible objects? I dont understand...God is a spirit, we can not see Him. We are to use our eyes of faith. ~Not looking at a relic or icon or symbol. None of those man made trinkets can really symbolize God or "victory" or the "trinity" anything.
Most are to used make money, preying on peoples need for a tangible object. Almost like an amulet in some cases...People using crosses to ward off evil and such...ridiculous.

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 8:32 PM

Do you know the history of the cross?...heres a link to some information:

Dont know how much of the book you can read there, but you can research it further if you like.

Japlace - 3/20/10 @ 8:35 PM

hmmmm i think that most people wear/buy these icons and symbols such as Crosses Trinitys and such becuase we want something to constantly remind ourselves of things such as Jesus sacrifice on the cross.As u said jay, we need to use our EYES as faith, but since we cannot see our eyes ;) i think we should use our SIGHT, so if we wear a cross around our wrist ect. then we can SEE it and use these icons as a costant reminder of why we have our Faith in Christ.

John - 3/20/10 @ 8:45 PM

eaxactly

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 8:48 PM

I beleive we should remember with our hearts..not by sight.

Simply looking at a beautiful flower, or animal or sky...anything can remind us of God.

~And anyway what if Jesus was put to death by some other means...like guillotine? Would people love them and wear them on their necks?

Proverbs 3:"My son, do not forget my teaching,
But let your heart keep my commandments;
2 For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.
3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good repute
In the sight of God and man."

John - 3/20/10 @ 8:55 PM

"Simply looking at a beautiful flower, or animal or sky...anything can remind us of God."
sure...but in the middle of temptation i have found that this doesnt work. but a cross, a crown of thorns...some other sign of Christs suffering..reminds me of what He did for me. if i am lusting after a girl on a beautiful beach...i wont say "oh look at the water...better not lust" if i see my cross necklace i say "wow...He DIED on one of those...for ME! id better shape up!"

jay.me - 3/20/10 @ 9:00 PM

Then you give significance to the object...could you just pray instead?

John - 3/20/10 @ 9:04 PM

thats what i am saying! if i am in the moment, God (unfortunately) is not on my mind...so when i feel my cross necklace shift it is a reminder...i pray a ton...but when i am being tempted, God is often times not on my mind.

Japlace - 3/20/10 @ 9:06 PM

@jay.
Well u never know if we would be doing that. i mean what if he was hung, and the cross was contiguous with a electric chair. we never know.

and according to ur verse we are to bind the kindness and truth around our neck (doesnt that mean to put a reminder of these things around our neck like a necklace? like a cross, or a similar symbol?)
