I'm pretty sure everyone on here will agree that we would not survive without God's love however, do you believe it is necessary or even important to be loved by other people? Can one enjoy life and serve God faithfully and fully without receiving love by other people?

I believe you can, but I think those people who aren't serving God need that love to be inspired to follow God they need to see God's love through us or else they won't want what we have and that's God. However, it states in the Bible that we need fellowship with fellow Christians, we need to go to God's house and worship Him and help each other out, praying for each other and that my friend is Love so, I take back what I said No you can not survive without the love of man when it comes from God.

So are you saying we need to be loved by Christians and not nonbelievers? And does fellowship with Christians require those Christians to love you?
Daniel - 11/13/11 @ 7:23 PM
Yes, because the Bible commands us to "love our neighbor as ourselves" So if you are fellowshipping with Christians, than you are commanded to love them and they to love you. The Bible also says that "we love because He first loved us." So if you are not loving, you are not allowing yourself to be filled with God's Love. if that makes sense?

@Daniel - I agree that we should love others but that is not my question. Are we required to have others love us? Can a Christian survive without others loving them?

Oh I believe 100% we're able to live on God's love alone. He's all that we need, right? However, that wouldn't make sense, because Christ calls us to love others because he first loved us, so we should be loving others, as wells other believers loving us because they're obeying God as well. I don't think that God would have programmed us with a desire for the love and acceptance of others if he didn't want us to give and receive it. We do have to be careful though that our priorities and motives are straight. God's love for us and our love for God should always come first in our lives no matter what, and yes, even before your love for your spouse and kids, and as a response to God's amazing love, we should be to the point of overflowing with love for others. Makes me think of a domino effect.

What is this 'Body of Christ' that was taught to me? I thought that was other people.
Jordan Dean - 11/14/11 @ 12:24 PM
@Ariel - Loving others is not the question. What if we don't have a Christian church in our area and have no Christians to love us? What about people who live in countries where Christianity is rare and they just rely on themselves and God?
@George - The Body of Christ is other people. Unfortunately, many Christians never come in contact with this body during this life.

@Jordan- Yes that is what I am saying we don't need a non-believers love to survive but they need Godly love to survive and God's love shows through us. We should love one another no matter what but non-believers don't always do that, but they are God's children too, He created them. We are to do 4 things, Evangelize,Equip,Encourage, and Empower to help these people it is all stated in the Bible. I guess I am saying we aren't dependent on their love. And to your second question, we shouldn't have to be required once we have God's love, we should already find the relationships and love in each other, We as Christians should show love to everyone even those who intend harm so that they may see God that lives within us.

@Alex - You really went off on a tangent. The question was not should we love people but are we required TO BE LOVED by other people.
Courtney - 11/16/11 @ 9:15 AM
I agree with Alex. The Bible says that we should have fellowship with our church family because we're all supposed to be helping our Father build the Kingdom. But if someone doesn't love you because of who you really are or for whatever reason when it's just unjust, we don't need their love. For the Bible says even if the whole world is against you and the only thing you have is Me (our Father), then you have the whole world. Which obviously means that if we are who we really are supposed to be, and people don't like us STILL, then it doesn't matter. Only God matters. But if other Christians do like us for all the right reasons because we ARE human, we ALL sin, but we're forgiven, then YES, we are supposed to accept the fellowship. True Christians do not judge, nor do they turn away anyone who needs help in any way. But if WE are judged by the world unjustly, and we are trying our hardest to be who we need to be under God, then that's the world's fault. Either way, you still have God. It just depends on the people's judgement about CHRISTIANS.

@Courtney - So what about for someone who has never met another Christian?
PutHisBloodOnIt - 11/17/11 @ 6:09 AM
If another Christian never meets another loving Christian or never comes in contact with one in their life time due to them being in other countries where Christianity is not accepted much then shame on all of us and we are not doing our job and there is much much more work to be done I know that wasn't your question Jordan just wanted to throw that out there. GOD = JESUS >BODY OF CHRIST(as one)> Me & You.........we know that God and Jesus are one and that God is love and you and I make up the body of Christ we are representation of Jesus on earth, the body and Jesus are one so as the body we represent Jesus love. The world needs Gods love we don't need the worlds love. We know love according to the Bible is not a feeling its an action, we can love someone but not like them at the sametime hence love your enemies. Can a Christian survive this life without love from worldly people? Yes they can God tells us the world hates us becausecof Jesus.
PutHisBloodOnIt - 11/17/11 @ 6:26 AM
If all that was confusing I'm sorry its early and I was brainstorming and everything that was coming in my head I was just typing. Since were on the topic of love this popped in my head to and that is the Bible says there is no greater love than when someone lays down there life for a brother. If you think about that God says that's the greatest act of love Jesus did that for us. So many people are afraid to go to other countries to preach the Gospel and being killed, but we are called to give up our life and serve God meaning to go and doing his work whether it be giving up our job and simple comfortable life or actually giving up our life and risking being killed, to save your life is to die but to die is to gain life! Do not be afraid of the one who can kill the body but fear the one who can destroy both body and soul!
