Help! My mom smokes. It's disgusting. I hate it. And most everyday she's home and I'm at school she smokes in the house and lies about it later. She promises not to do it again. And she lies. Human promises are never true anyway. I don't even know why I bother. I am so angry and stress over this I could scream. It's so dumb! Have a stern talk with her. Let her know you know she's lying and tell her how much you hate it. Letting her know your feelings towards smoking will let her see how much you love her.

Best thing you can do is pray. Prayer can do things no other conversation or actions can. God will NOT fail His children.

Maybe you could ask her if she must smoke, can she do it outside, or not around you or if you're in the vehicle, not in there. If she's stubborn and not wanting to quit, I don't think there's anything you can do about it. Except, like Jordan said, pray. Prayer does powerful things. My dad was an alcoholic, and he's cut down to only every once in a while, PTL!!!

I'm really sorry I have to say this, but sometimes you need to accept it's just not your decision.
I feel your pain, I know how frustrating this kind of thing is. My mom is going to marry the single most selfish man I've ever met. Not only that, he is delusional and utterly incompetent at anything which doesn't have to do with country. And yet, my mom wants him, because he values her. What she isn't understanding is that he only values her because she is his only friend.
My mom lost her battle with her heart. It sounds like your mom is doing the same.
Be a little lenient towards your mom - nicotine is more addictive than any other drug, and it's much more difficult to quit than most people understand. Don't be angry at her for her decision, instead, let her know you are willing to do anything to help her quit smoking.

My brother and father smokes. I heard from somwhere that nicotine is more addictive than heroin. You gotta feel sorry for them in a way. What was said before is true - you should pray for them and show your concern not for your sake but for theirs.

I think to a certain extent , it's all in the mind. If you want to give it up, you could. A lot of people just don't. Prayer works wonders- but I'd also try talking to her, maybe work on compromising. Her doing it outside...
