DISCERNMENT - is it a gift or is it somting that's given to everyone? For Example an animal has discerment. A sinner has discernement. DISCERMENT AND THE GIFT OF PROPHESY IS IT THE SAME THING OR OUR THEY DIFFERENT?

I believe dicerment is choices and everyone has them. As christians we have to use our knowledge to dicern weather or not to sin. We have to dicern to pray instead of jump the gun and hope we make the right choices. Hope this helps.

this is from wikipedia,~ Discernment is a term used to describe the activity of determining the value of a certain subject or event. Typically, it is used to describe the activity of going past the mere perception of something, to making detailed judgments about that thing. As a virtue, a discerning individual is considered to possess wisdom, and be of good judgement; especially so with regard to subject matter often overlooked by others. ~it sounds to me like its different than prophesy.

discernment is nothing special, it's just a quality. just like bravery is a quality. it's nothing special but it's a quality, a quality that anybody can have.

There is regular discernment- the quality like Daniel mentioned- discerning between good and evil. There is also the gift of discernment spoken of in the Bible. Check out htis verse 1 Cor. 12:10 It is a spiritual gift.

if you mean "discerning of spirits" - i don't think that should be called the "gift of discernment" because then it sounds like anybody who can tell that murder is bad and love is good could be considered to have that, but calling it, "discernment of spirits" is better, but what spirits? whether a person is good or bad? no, I am quite sure that its about discerning if a person who prophesies is going by the Spirit of God or by an unclean spirit. No, Daniel, I mean the SPIRITUAL gift of discernment. And it when God shows someone things that other people may not knwo or understand about situations, people,etc..

We all have the ability to make decisions, but to have Discernment is to have the knowledge and gifts of Discern good from bad choices. There are many people who lack the ability to tell the difference and it can be a gift.. Just the fact that we make choices, doesn't mean we can tell what is the better choice.

We all have God given discernment. Even the animals have it... Proverbs 1:17 - If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away.
I think it comes with having an open mind, being able to navigate through all the crap and realize the real issue.
