To witness to people we need to be with them, right? I don`t really think we should hang around them constantly, but we definitely need to share Jesus to them. Remember, Jesus was with sinners and loved them but He still hated their sins.
Currently right now I am in a bar for a friends gf birthday, and I am sitting at a table watching everyone very drunk, its kinda sad I see I full place full of people who
Absolutely!Like other people have mentioned, Jesus hung out with sinners all the time. It's our duty as Christians to be salt and light into this world.
Food for thought:
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?" (Romans 10:14)
***People need to hear and see Jesus in our lives for them to believe. The question should always be- is this person infecting me more than I am affecting them? If they're dragging you down, and you become wheeled into your old self, then it may be time to run!
this is something you have to do carefully, and not for fun. it isn't right to hang out with atheistic people for fun's sake, or friendship's sake. it has to be for their soul's sake, or its friendship with the world which is an emnity to God, its being a companion of fools, its light walking with darkness, and its bad company that will corrupt good manners.
@Daniel, if we ne ver hang around wordly people how can we reach them with Christ's love? Though what Sarah sadi is correct. i watched someone in my youth group slwoly fall away from God and into drugs and he is now in a death metal band
@ZombiePickles Daniel was merely saying that we should do so with the intent of edifying this person and bringing them into the knowledge of God and not solely for the sake of coexistence or just for the sake of being someones friend. 1 Corinthians 10:31 comes to mind. Our agenda should be as such. And to be MATTHEW 5:16 in there presence. And to profess the gospel. Wha does it profit a man to gain the world (friends and fun are things of this world)? If you care about someone who is on a road to hell and you ae not pleading with them but keeping silent for the sake of comfort or coexisence it is a disservice. Imagine this. You read a note that says assassins are coming to rob and kill your best friend. You go hang out with your best friend and you guys are having a great time. The assassin come in and snatch your friend away and you tell your friend ,"I was going to warn you but we were having such a good time." that'd be a wicked thing, right/ The note is the bible. The assassin is the devil who comes to rob, kill, and destroy. The snatching away is the grave and hell. You could have warned your friend but for the sake of keeping the peace or not being looked at wierd you remain silent. Not worth it. sow your seed and when it lands on good soil it will bear much fruit.
though it can sometimes be a hard thing to do, i definitely agree with kingskid, daniel, and wefromthelight
@george, though talking to them would definitely help you understand whether a person is worldly or not, i think you can also tell a lot just from their outward appearance and actions (how they dress, act, and talk to others). if their actions don't match up with a christians, they curse a ton, use God's name in vain, dress very immodestly, etc.. these can all be hints at what their beliefs are, though not entirely of course, because no one can know their heart
Jesus died for us wordly people so I guess we need talk to them to tell them this. After that they are on their oun and usually choose not to talk to you anymore. Not a problem here I only have 12 Facebook friends LOL.
Zmelli- we are ALL worldly to start out with. None of us are born saints. Just as the verse in Isaiah says- none of us are righteous and all of our attempts at righteous works are like filthy rags. We cannot even be slightly holy without God, no matter how hard we try. (Look at Isaiah 54:6) Like I said before, it is good to be around people who don't have Jesus. How will they know unless they hear? I think the people in this forum were just saying it is good to be cautious, lest we as believers fall into the same habitual sin Jesus saved us from.
I don't understand what you mean by saying "they are on their own and usually choose not to talk to you anymore." Can you explain?

Yes, Absolutely! Who did Jesus hang around? He was with sinners, thieves, murderers, prostitutes, tax collectors, etc.
