I think this is a big problem among some christians, and that is if they still battle with who they use to be they somehow are failing which i believe is not true. We are to everyday pick up our cross and follow Jesus, this means everyday, every christian, every pastor etc.. has to first deny themselves and pick up there cross and that means struggling with thoughts, urges, or actions that was part of there sinful past but overcoming them through Christ. I dont care who you are everyone struggles with things from their past, ask any pastor they will admit they struggle all the time or have urges but they dont give in, but this may vary from person to person with how much they struggle. Point is everyday its a struggle,no one reaches the point where they automatically have no urges or free of struggles no one! Thats why we are instructed each and everyday to deny ourselves and pick up our cross and follow Jesus.

well, i think much people struggle with that.. but know there are always people who pray for and with you... you're not alone!

Alex - 4/9/11 @ 2:37 AM

@PHBOI - thank you i didnt see it that way

@gabri - i know lil sis you have been there a lot thank you

Well, I used to lock the old me in a closet. The problem with that approach was soon I would forget and tell myself I wasn't that bad and unlock the door. As soon as the door opened the old me would jump all over the new me and WIN MOST OF THE FIGHTS.

Now instead of a closet I keep it (old me) in a room with plexiglass windows (much like the gorillas at the zoo) so whenever I get that old feeling I can look into that room and say "Let that fool stay in there; without opening the door"

**Hope that analogy made sense to you**

I definitely battle who I used to be. I still want to cut and just say "f*** life" all the time. I want to give up and revert to not caring about anything. To make myself feel better, I usually listen to some music, or write all my negative feelings in the form of a poem.

Alex - 4/9/11 @ 4:01 PM

Bryan - thats good and yes it made sense :)
Rachel - Thats really good things to do.

Ariel - 4/10/11 @ 7:16 AM

Well I have a hard time. That is why I finally bought "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer. AMAZING book with awesome good scripture to relate to. I also keep Scripture posted all over the house (on the mirror, in my drawers, on the cupboards, ect.) to keep my focus on God, because like PHBOI said it is a struggle everyday but with God we can do it!!!

Jon - 4/12/11 @ 9:56 AM

its a constant battle with the old us. the keyword is BATTLE though in war its you and the enemy, one of you can't walk away. The new you has Christ on your side so the old you really dont stand a chance. thats how I deal anyway.

Alex - 4/12/11 @ 10:08 AM

@W0man0fG0d- thats good my grandmother always tried to get me to read it but i always refused (when i was who I used to be) i'll have to read it now.

@Jon- thats good thing to think

Godschild - 4/14/11 @ 8:57 PM

Everyone struggles because living for Christ isn't supposed to be easy at all. What I have found to be helpful is going to bible study because we talk about these things, and it feels good to have people put their two cents into whatever is bothering you. Because whatever your going through someone else might be going through something similar and you guys can help keep each other on track . Plus reading the word always helps, God always seems to let me know that he's listening whenever I open up my bible and read! Hope that helped :)

Godschild - 4/15/11 @ 5:55 PM

Hey Alex I just wrote you yesterday but today I feel like I got a verse that made me think of what you asked so I felt like I should share it. Philippians 1:29-30 specifically but the whole chapter as well. :)God Bless!

Isaiah6:8 - 4/16/11 @ 9:56 AM

Well I deal with this battle everyday. Im still cutting off old so called friends, getting rid of old sinful things I used to do, etc. But I know with all things are possible with God. Trust me, if you looked up sinner in the dictionary, you would see my name. So if God changed my life, He is powerful lol. But stay strong, Pray without ceasing.

Needy Servant - 4/16/11 @ 11:37 AM

Its all about growing bro, every now and then you will kind of look around and be like "wow I didn't even realize i don't do this or that anymore, and i do that and this now" the flesh is and ugly thing we deal with but we need to reckon ourselves dead to it. Crucified with Christ, buried with Him, and resurrected with Him. Memorizing scripture is an integral part of our battle, throughout the day recall scripture and keep your mind on God. Try maybe Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:11, 2 corinthians 5:17.

remember you are really in a real war, read ephesians homeboy, and dig deep.

Needy Servant - 4/16/11 @ 11:48 AM

@Ariel - and any other s who watched that video... i would say after watching that video i have some concern for the underlying message. Jesus did not pay satan for our sins, He did pay God, God poured out His wrath on Jesus and not us. Satan received no payment for us, and Jesus was our propitiation to God.

Alex - 4/17/11 @ 3:49 AM

@RC247 - Thanks I will def read it. I thank you for replying like that

@Isaiah - I do some of those tings only one I disagree on you with, pretty sure my picture and full name are under the definition of sin.

@Cross Carrier - Thanks man I will

Thank you to you all for your replies and support

asfaffa - 4/17/11 @ 11:33 AM

Sin is an everyday battle, however, because we have the Lord now it becomes easier!! It never fully goes away until we get to Heaven, but Christ is strong, loving, forgiving and if we look up to Him and His example every single day (strive to be like Him), we can more easily put death to the past "us" :)

Alex - 4/17/11 @ 2:41 PM

Its pretty difficult but I try

Jon - 4/20/11 @ 9:03 AM

i believe I put this in another topic but something I did is get a close christian friend and have them as an accountability partner, someone you can turn to when temptation arises, someone you know will be there to help you and not telecast it out to the world that you have struggles, and likewise if they have something they struggle in you be there for them.
