Just be sure to change your password (try to make it one that can't be easily cracked) and send out a mass message explaining what happened and apologizing for the incident. Unfortunately, it happens quite often so I'm sure people will understand.

Ok... I'm just afraid that it might have led people astray

I doubt it. Considering how upset you seem to be about it, you probably wouldn't come off to people as the type that would do that. So the people that know you probably assumed your account had been hacked before anything else. It's happened 3 people I know and it's pretty easy to identify. I just wonder why people don't have better things to do...

When I get hacked and stuff gets posted on my friends walls, I usually make a post on my status and explain what happened! :)

In response to sheep among wolves: I used to be the kind of guy that would do that and that is where the problem sits

In response to George: Yes I changed my password to another one that had both letters and numbers :-)

Well, I'm still sure that an apology would clear things up. If that's the case just be swift about it though. So hopefully you've already issued it or you are doing it now. You even want to add that, while it was something that could have been expected from you in the past, you've grown and that type of behavior is no longer typical of you.

Here's my nerdy answer.. Lol. I'm actually the IT guy for our church, and repair computers, make websites, etc., for friends. Lol. First of all;

Change your password to both your facebook and the e-mail address that is registered for the account.

Once you finish that, go ahead and install "HOSTS" file. What this does, is blocks ALL porn/hijacked domains/malicious servers/ads/most tracking cookies/along with any other bad domain names. Installing this HOSTS file, will essentially make it impossible for those hostile sites to access your computer. What happens is the same as when you try to call someone, but they never answer, because they don't "exist" anymore. To install this file, go to, this website http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
Or, just click this link to directly the file; http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip
-Once the file is downloaded, unzip (copy) all the files to a folder, or to your desktop. Then click "mvps.bat" What this does, is opens a batch file, and copies the HOSTS file to c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc
Once that is finished (I think it's a blue command-prompt.) It will say that it's done, and to press any key to continue. Then it's done! I would restart the computer to make sure everything the browsers DNS gets flushed.

After that, you want to install an antivirus if you don't already have one. Some good ones I usually use are AVG or Avast!
Then, unless that antivirus came with a firewall, you need to install a firewall as well. A firewall I would highly recommend is Comodo firewall.

If any of this is confusing, or if you want help with a computer; just hit me up man. I have a facebook. Just look up chris.breshears@gmail.com

I kind of explained the HOSTS file wrong. A better analogy is whenever you try calling a friend, but you actually call your own phone number; and obviously you never get a hold of your friend, because you're dialing the wrong number. Get it?

Here's a computer lesson. Lol. Imagine this:
Whenever you type in "c28.com", a DNS server actually translates "c28.com" into "206.71.190.9" That is called an "IP address." (What you can do, is type in that number, and see where it takes you.)

So, what happens with the HOSTS file, is whenever you type in a bad URL, it bypasses your ISPs DNS server. So, let's say "pornsite.com" points to "888.888.888.888" This HOSTS file is going to bypass that address, and make it point to "127.0.0.1"

127.0.0.1, is called a loopback. So, what this does is tell the computer to look for "pornsite.com" on 127.0.0.1. (Which is your computer."

So, when the computer looks for pornsite.com on your own computer, of course it's not going to find it. So, it's going to display a 404 error. (A 404 error is a "Not Found" or "Page Cannot Be Displayed")

Now, once you install this, everywhere you once saw an ad, or any other bad website on the screen, it will be replaced by a 404 box. This will also make your internet go a lot faster. Especially when the ads are flash-based. (Which most are.)

Overall, I use that MVPS HOSTS file on just about every computer I work on. Everybody loves it.
