inspiration... :] posted in General on 1/13/10 @ 5:33 PM by Corey

its an everyday process, an everyday struggle to live a life like Jesus. You will probably be criticized for your faith, but the One who gave life is on your side. He is there every step of the way and when the road gets rocky He will pick you up and carry you. He is there trying to fend off the evils that surround you. Take the time to turn down the noise of the world and listen to him. Dont be the one who regrets what you did in your life when your life ends and you realize that there is a God...

We need to live this life the way He has said for us to live it. We need to realize as we go about our lives, trying to live it with excellence that its all about Him. Its all for His glory and not ours, His will and not ours, its for Him and not us. There is always persecution, but we find strength in Jesus and He will never let us go

Corey - 1/13/10 @ 9:11 PM

-Storms will come your way but you have the strength to withstand it and thrive in it. God has a design for you to withstand the storm.
-You may get mocked for your beliefs, but God will be there. You are not alone.
-The more you reach for Jesus, the more He will reach for you.
-Worship is an invitation to get to know God.
-It takes one second for you to say "what if" to God and open your heart to Him. Until you give it all He cant give everything either
-sometimes the most wow moments come from the most chill and quiet moments.
-God wants you to come as you are. He doesnt take the excuses you give Him. He just wants you to say I LOVE YOU.
-When its quiet God knows your sinning.
-Its alot easier to stand up for what you believe in when you are in a big group than it is when your on your own. Its easy to become a coward in your social life and not stand up for what you believe in.
-Because of the Holy Spirit you have the courage you need to live you life you are supposed to but you just need to tap into it.
-You lack nothing. The only thing that keeps up from sainthood is us.

Alpha - 1/13/10 @ 9:34 PM

Feel-good, self-help garbage like this is a large problem in Christianity.

Stephen - 1/13/10 @ 10:02 PM

The feel good garbage like what you said is a big problem in the world. You shouldnt come on here and disrespect what people believe in, wait let me rephrase that, the things people experience and live through daily and who are committed to. You dont see anybody on here thrashing on what (if anything) you believe in, so dont do it to us

Alpha - 1/13/10 @ 10:07 PM

"The feel good garbage like what you said is a big problem in the world."
-The world maybe, but intelligent people dont use the devil as an excuse for their problems, and use God as a manipulative crutch to make themselves feel better and do the right thing.

"You dont see anybody on here thrashing on what (if anything) you believe in"
-Lol. Yeah, right. :)

Crazy Rocker Barbie - 1/14/10 @ 9:18 AM

the people you view as "intellegent" ignore the devil completely which shows they must not be quite as intellegent as you view them to be because that is the biggest mistake you can make (disregarding satan). and i dont really understand what you mean by "Feel-good, self-help garbage like this is a large problem in Christianity." its not self-help. its humbling yourself to recieve help from God and follow His will and trust that He will guide us through whatever and knowing that when we obey Him, He rewards us but even if we slip up He will love us anyway. if Christianity was about "self-help" then why would we willingly go through persecution in the name of God? how does that help US? why would we HAVE a God? were trudging through this world and making it MORE difficult for ourselves by following God. i wont argue however that christianity makes you feel good. :) it has given me a joy that you unfortunately dont seem to even want to pursue.

Corey - 1/14/10 @ 6:45 PM

very well stated rocker barbie.

alpha: you said that christians "use God as a manipulative crutch to make themselves feel better and do the right thing." why would we willingly put ourselves through persecutions by our friends and family, the people that are supposed to have our back no matter what? everyday, day in and day out, i get made fun of and persecuted for being a Jesus Freak. (even by my own brothers) im a senior in high school and no one understands why i have such a strong faith. but i dont do it for them. i dont do it to make myself feel better. i do because its the right thing to do and i love God with all my heart and i want to spend an eternity with Him. believe it or not He loves you too despite what you may think about him and whether or not you even think Hes real.

Many Christians "dont use the devil as an excuse for their problems." they understand that the people around them and even themselves can be a temptation. its avoiding those temptations that get us closer to the true and holy God. we dont do it because people tell us to. we do it for us. we do it because we believe that is the true life to live. it doesnt matter if thats what you believe. i mean we would like you to join us in our way of life but ultimately thats up to you...

Alpha - 1/14/10 @ 6:56 PM

"the people you view as "intellegent" ignore the devil completely"
-Dont be so hasty. :) People who completely discredit the possibility of supernatural(or higher) beings are just as foolish as those that completely view them as real.

To the rest of your rambling:
Christians seem to blame other people(the devil) for the things they regret. That is garbage. :)
People need to realize that they do what they do because they want to do it; and take responsibility for it! God cannot make you become a better person, and Satan cannot make you be a worse person. You are who you are, and you do what you choose to do.
It is self-help, because you(seem to, at least) act like God can make you choose to be a better person.
If you want to be a better person, you have to realize that the choice resides on yourself alone, and then choose to do the right thing. If you are hoping on God to "help you" do that, then you are just fooling yourself so that you dont feel as bad about your unwillingness to actually commit to do good.

"were trudging through this world and making it MORE difficult for ourselves by following God."
-No you dont. You have assurance(albeit, falsely founded) that everything will turn out good for you in the end, and somebody truly cares about you. That makes life simple(and blissful, if you can trick yourself to believe it.)

Alpha - 1/14/10 @ 7:04 PM

"i dont do it to make myself feel better."
-Yes you do.
This is the root of the problem, you refuse to accept that you live for yourself. Everybody does what they do because it is what makes them feel the best. Plain and simple.

"they understand that the people around them and even themselves can be a temptation."
-Same problem, they are blaming other people for their own sins.

"we do it for us."
-lol. About time you realize it. :)

Andrew - 1/15/10 @ 2:22 PM

Seriously Alpha we dont do it for ourselfs it can make us feel good at times but what about those times that we are beaten mocked and rejected cause of our faith do you think that makes us feel good... NO! of course not but do we stick with it yes because we know and believe what is true. we no longer live for ourselfs but for Jesus our Lord and Savior.

So some people blame others for their sins but, That is a part of the human that manipulates us and we try to get rid of it but the fact is we will not be perfect till the day we are in heaven With God.

Yes sometimes we do it for ourselfs so we can be forgiven and saved but, there are other things but we also do it for other people and our savior. do you think we enjoy it when someone keeps rejecting our LORD and we are trying to save them no we dont yet we do it not for ourselfs but for them so that they may live also.

You have a great mind Alpha but you use it and refuse to hear anything other than what the world has to say. open your eyes so you can see the Glory, turn on your ears so that you may hear the praise. there may be eveidence for evolution but their reasons have no good support where we can say with our evidence Oh God created that and whola there is a perfectly good reason.

Hope yall have a Blessed day (even you Alpha)

Alpha - 1/15/10 @ 4:15 PM

You do it for yourself, because in "eternity" you will be the one who benefits(which would be well worth a few scoffs and sarcastic remarks.)

"but the fact is we will not be perfect till the day we are in heaven With God."
-So God will somehow make you be perfect? Wouldnt that defy your free will?

"You have a great mind Alpha"
-I know, Im amazing.

"there may be eveidence for evolution but their reasons have no good support where we can say with our evidence Oh God created that and whola there is a perfectly good reason. "
-Aside from making no sense... God is not a "perfectly good reason", he is the escape from reason. People use God to fill in the gaps of what they dont know. That is Bronze Age thinking.

Matt - 1/15/10 @ 6:00 PM

haha alpha, Ive been on this forum for a total of 15 mins and I can already tell you are the alpha-troll around here, :P. <3

Anway, I think it is good for someone who questions our beleifs to hang around because while faith is good, not everything should simply be beleived. Doubt is good. I think You can learn some things from hanging out on a Christian forum, and we can learn things about our beleifs from listening to you :).

While I will applaude and agree with you on some points, I cannot on ALL points. You are right, the "God of the Gaps" mentality should be avoided because as science increases, so does our view of the world. HOWEVER, I do think that God is the "escape from reason".

Anyway, we are getting off topic and I would like to thank Corey for the encouraging words. Your post reminded me of one of my favorite stories of all time. It goes something like this...

A man died and went to heaven. While he was walking around he entered an enormous room full of paintings; all of these paintings were of footprints on a beach, but every one was differently labeled with someones name. After searching for quite some time he found his own and as he was studying it, Jesus came up beside him.

The man asked "what do these pictures mean?" Jesus replied "This picture represents your life and your walk with me in it." There were 2 sets of footprints throughout the mans life, but he noticed that in some places there was only one set of footprints; he soon realized that these were the darkest and most difficult parts of his life.

He asked Jesus, "Why was I alone during the most difficult times of my life, I thought you were always with me?" Jesus replied "The places where you see one set of footprints is not where I had forsaken you, but where I carried you."

Alpha - 1/15/10 @ 7:26 PM

"haha alpha, Ive been on this forum for a total of 15 mins and I can already tell you are the alpha-troll around here, :P. <3 "
-I prefer "scourge of the earth" ;)

"I think You can learn some things from hanging out on a Christian forum"
-Nothing good, certainly.

"HOWEVER, I do think that God is the "escape from reason"."
-Lol. Glad you agree. ;)

jay.me - 1/15/10 @ 7:59 PM

"-So God will somehow make you be perfect? Wouldnt that defy your free will?"

No. Adam and Eve were perfect AND had free will.

Alpha - 1/15/10 @ 8:07 PM

"No. Adam and Eve were perfect AND had free will."
-No they werent. They chose to sin, remember? :)

jay.me - 1/15/10 @ 8:17 PM

Yes...they chose to sin showing they had free will.
And they were perfect because God created them perfect.(so was Satan)
What is your definition of perfect?

Matt - 1/15/10 @ 8:28 PM

Well alpha, why are you hanging around here? Let me ask you a question, do you consider yourself an Athiest or Agnostic? And if you dont think you can learn anything good from hanging around these forums, why are you wasting your time? Certainly you have more productive things to do than trolling.

hehe, nice catch, but you know as well as I that the sentence should read "HOWEVER, I do *NOT* think that God is the "escape from reason"." :P

Alpha - 1/15/10 @ 8:33 PM

"What is your definition of perfect?"
-When you try to argue semantics, it isnt nice to quote mine. :)

"but the fact is we will not be perfect till the day we are in heaven With God."

That is what they said. Which would mean that humans cannot be perfect by their own will, or else perfection would be obtainable here on earth(which the poster stated to be impossible.) Hence, if they are perfect, they no longer have free will(according to Andrews logic.)

Alpha - 1/15/10 @ 8:38 PM

"do you consider yourself an Athiest or Agnostic?"
-Neither. Agnostic would be the more accurate description, however.

"And if you dont think you can learn anything good from hanging around these forums, why are you wasting your time? Certainly you have more productive things to do than trolling."
-Because it is fun, of course. :)
