Well, sometimes I just get a Spirit tugging to pray (usually for others) So I do. Also, prayer is always something that I do when there is something wrong. I need to pray more just to talk with God though!
I pray when I have no one else to talk to, when I am lonely, when I am worried about someone, and when I need forgiveness as well as a host of other reasons.
I just saw this quote from C.S. Lewis. "I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God; it changes me."
I pray when I see something horrible going on in the news. I also pray when things seem horrible. It always gives me a sense of peace and love. God loves each and every one of us. But, I pray every night anyway. I pray for everyone. Rarely for myself, to be honest.
what usually pushs me to pray is just loving to talk to God....having that intimate relationship..I can't wait to tell him about my day..or ask him questions about things i want to do(goals, dreams, etc.) nd number 1 thing that pushes me to pray...is the fact that i love being in his presence...it's the only thing that brings me peace
hmm now that i think about it..I haven't prayed for anyone in a while...except for this morning and last night..because I was praising God for using me to bring someone into his kingdom.. hmm...I need to change that...
Prayer has become a place I go whenever I need to feel the Lord in my life. It's a place where I draw strength, courage, wisdom, peace, serenity, and love. I speak with Him every day and put my hopes and fears in His Hands. I remember a time when everyday seemed to be a fight and a struggle to overcome. Misery seemed my only companion and I felt detached from the Lord. Then I began to pray and commune with Him and found the more of myself I showed to Him the less I had to fight. I learned I no longer have to struggle. For in giving my life over to the Lord, no fight nor struggle can stand against Him.
I pray all the time, everyday. It says in the bible to pray without ceasing, we all need to get to where we are praying and talking with God everyday lots of times a day. Which takes a lot of work to get used to doing!
I pray for a LOT of reasons. A couple months ago my pastor spoke on what it means to "pray without ceasing" and since then I've started to notice that I pray a lot more.
Confession, to bless others, to thank God for everything he has done, to ask him for help (for me, but most for others that are in need) to say how I'm feeling... Well, a lot of reasons

confession is a big one for me, but the safety for others is also in there for me.

I pray for forgiveness, and just to speak with God and be real with him.
