Jesus boring or Fun posted in General on 1/6/10 @ 8:14 PM by Andrew

Ok so I notice in all the movies that Jesus is potraied in he is always this solmn sturn man but, didnt he have children running up to him wanting to be around him? I mean a child would not normally want to be around older people and stuff that you always had to listen you would get bored. But the Children ran to him it sounds like he was like a chucky cheese in our time (except perfect). what do you think was he all solmn and stern or fun yet was respectible and looked up to?

Jesus wasnt even a stern person, according to the word. He was compassionate, loving, he laughed, just as any man. Except he had no sin, he resisted the temptations.

Andrew - 1/8/10 @ 4:01 PM

yes but why in movies do they potray him as a boring person that would be dull to be around?

happy_panda - 1/8/10 @ 8:25 PM

because thats a stereotype of Jesus like the blonde-haired version with a white robe and a blue sash thats always depicted in childrens storybooks lol x] Im pretty sure Jesus was the most fun person ever to be around! i guess thats kinda hard to portray in movies though bc you wouldnt want to get the excitement wrong and be inaccurate x3

Matt - 1/15/10 @ 7:03 PM

Jesus is not boring and God is not boring; all of mans attempts and rituals for portraying God are boring. God made everything so if there is anything in this life that you find in the least bit interesting then how can God be boring? Jesus walked around healing people, walking on water, raising dead people, trashing temples--this is one epic dude.

Many people today think that God is the "no-fun" policeman, but really he wants us to enjoy life, Just within his boundaries.

I agree with everyone (and jesse that show was pretty funny) but why is he always potrayed as some boring person in everyones mind even in churchs. People imagine in my church still that it is going to harps and a never ending song where did this sterotype come from cause i dont blame some people not wanting to go to heaven when you think of this...

Verse 3eee trillion and 93... and then they think of hell as a place of fighting and fire and rock bands and things but dont know the terror of it actually

so i ask why do most of us think as Jesus and heaven as boring and tiring?

Crazy Rocker Barbie - 1/23/10 @ 9:22 AM

...Jesus stereotype is blond?

haha sorry that was just something i havent seen. ^^ but ik people give him blue eyes. people! he was born in bethlehem! haha anyway, ya, i agree with all of you. I cant imagine what it was like to be physically walking with Him and spending all that time with Him and seeing those miracles! Hes anything BUT boring! and i have to check out that link jesse. : )

Jasmine - 3/16/10 @ 8:01 AM

Jesus is not boring at all. He can be serious or "stern" but thats not His only side. He loves to be silly and just have fun with his children. Hes like a father with his 3 year old son. he likes to play with him, make him laugh, dance with him, and just spend time with him.

I think that in movies they show Him as stern because the mey not really know Him. Im not trying to judge or anything just a thought. or if they do know Him maybe they dont konw that side of Him. But Jesus does like to have fun.

Japlace - 3/16/10 @ 9:34 AM

i believe Jesus was a man of great fun, yet he was serious. i imagine Him as someone who is so truthful, kind, and honest that people would actually be drawn to Him. us as Christians have people physically draw to us. ina way they fall in love with, (a friendship love) i mean, take our closest friends for example, we want to be around them, they make us happy and we desire their company, and we care about them, thus we love them.
in the same manner, Jesus was so loving, kind and truly fun to be around, that people had a immediate attraction to Him. i mean think bout wen a realllly kind friend of yours walks in the room, you go to him/her and enjoy their presence, right? well same Jesus perfectness was an attraction to people. and children running to Him are testament to this.
We should be as Christ, do as He did. Do EVERYTHING out of LOVE (and yes, we still should talk to Alpha thru LOVE, no matter how hard it is. he needs our prayers just as we need to encourage each other. but do it with love) :)

im pretty sure He has golden hair, has anyone ever read this? http://www.kingdomoflight.org/i_have_in_my_possession_a_copy_o.htm

Japlace - 3/16/10 @ 10:02 PM

Jesus is of the tribe of Judah. meaning he is a Jew :)

Japlace - 3/16/10 @ 10:15 PM

meaning His hair would be brown, He would be much like the fisherman in those days. yes He was a carpenter, so His Hands would be rough, and strong. His eyes were Love yes, but i do not think He was this Prince Charming. i think He was (as the Bible says) a man.just like us in appearence, yet He was sinless. I CANT WAIT TO MEET HIMMMM!!!!! :D

Daniel L. - 3/17/10 @ 12:16 PM

did you read the link?

rEVOLutionary. - 3/22/10 @ 6:51 AM

yea...i think i agree with Japlace on the image thing...he was born in bethlehem, and from the tribe of Judah which all of this is now modern day iraq which would prolly mean that his hair would be brown...but hey!? whats the point? as long as we get to meet him whats the big deal?

Japlace - 3/22/10 @ 9:35 AM

yeah, i mean he could be nothing like we have envisioned him, but what does it matter? Hes still the King of kings and the Lord of lords :D

I dont think he had an Arab ethnicity tho, (your reference to Iraq). he is still of Jewish decent.

Derrick - 6/5/10 @ 4:55 PM

The world doesnt know him so they will only say what they know about him...But because we as christians actually know him we can say who he really is>>>you know what im saying?
=)

Having fun is linked to being happy, being happy is an emotion, emotions are what we feel inside our bodies, we were (our bodies) created by God, Jesus was God in human form....With that being said im sure the creator of fun and happines knew how to have a good time! PRAISE GOD!

the_underdog - 6/6/10 @ 9:55 PM

Jesus was the perfect combo of fun and clean holiness.

He went to parties - the water into wine miracle. If any of you has taken cultural studies, you know what im talking about. a jewish wedding took three days. in this three days, nothing but rich foods and wine was drunk. it was literally a party for three days straight. when they ran out, Jesus provided the party its essential drink to party on. So he perfected partying and not sinning. :D awesome.

He played with kids!!! umm, pretty sure that means you have to have awesome laughing capabilities. and some epic hide and go seek skills.

He knew how to keep having fun, with kids and adults and not fall into temptation. :D

PutHisBloodOnIt - 6/7/10 @ 9:54 AM

Pretty soon we all are gonna walk with Jesus, sit down and have a convo with him, enjoy being in his presence! Laugh with him, just thinking about it makes all the troubles or hard times in this world seem like nothing compared to the good times we are gonna have with Jesus for eternity forever and ever and ever and ever.........LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!
