Just wondering what you guys think about them? I have a friend who recently met another Christian girl online - they started "dating" and he went to visit her for a month and I think she plans on taking a return trip here for a visit in the future. Do you guys think long distance relationships work?
I personally am not sure. I mean some things to consider are whether the two in the relationship are Christians. Whether they ever visit eachother, and how often. There is definitely the benefit of purity (at least physically) because of the Distance. But do you think that a relationship can grow if there is only long distance communication via phone and skype and stuff (and limited visits of course)? Just wondering what your thoughts are?

I definantly think a strong bond of friendship could form through phone, and other forms of communication! Skype? I have no idea what it is! For real!
I think as the trust and communication builds, then if the two friends had the time and money to travel to see each other why not?
I would absolutely have to agree that Christ must be the first in each of their lives. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
But to start "dating" online doesnt seem like a very rational thing to do!
Have you not seen Sleepless in Seattle? Im sure its in the Redbox! q:>*

I have been in one for over a year, we communicate well and visit each other every other month.

Yeah, my friend is the first person I have known to be in a long distance relationship.
But it did seem to start suddenly, Of course I really dont know how long they had been talking before they told people that they were "dating."

its realllllllllllly hard. Like, it takes a lot of trust and patience. some work, some don't. but it can be so frustrating. lol but skype can be a like.. epic wave of relief in that situation. i've used it so many times.. i love it! :3 (except when it gets like bogged down cause theres how many million ppl on?) lol just.. make sure you know what your getting into and that you fer sure KNOW the person.

I think they both must put Christ first in their lives. Then, if they loves each other and the bond between them is strong enough, why not?

Nothing is impossible. With Internet, you have to be careful if you don't know the person, but I think it could definitely work if it's what God has for you.

I love you're comment Daniel! lol
Anyways! YES IT CAN WORK! I'm living proof lol. I actually met my boyfriend (3 comments above, Daniel) right here on C28 on these forums like a year ago and we started dating back in January. Just like any relationship we had our problems and whatnot but the one thing that remained constant was the love that we had for each other. Just remember to keep God the focus of your relationship and with that anything is possible!
