Word Deconstruction:Swagger, Swag posted in Get A Clue on 9/10/10 @ 10:57 PM by joseBloodBought

Swagger is defined as: 1) arrogant or conceitedly self-assured behavior,2) ostentatious display or bravado;cockiness,3) to conduct oneself in an arrogant or superciliously pompous manner; especially : to walk with an air of overbearing self-confidence:boast, brag. Why do we as Christians seek to possess swagger when God intended for us to exhibit humility? Jesus, our Lord and Savior, washed the feet of His disciples. He was beaten, disrespected, degraded, humiliated, and denied though He bore all the glory of heaven. How much more then should we be humble before our God and our fellow man as Jesus humbled himself coming down from heaven to take our punishment? Jesus who was in very nature God did not consider godliness something to be grasped. The Lord detests the haughty and prideful yet swagger is prideful and haughty. My friends don't use these words in vain. By His(Jesus) stripes we are healed and not by our own. Jesus didn't die so that you could boast of who you are in Him because just as the last will be first, the first shall be lest. Be a servant.
