Hey i am Daisha and i was wondering if anyone knew of any good books i could read as a christian walking a new walk with Christ? I am already reading my bible everynight and i love it :) I am also looking for a better bible since i have KJV and i find it hard to understand so i just read the word online. Ok thanks Daisha :)
hey!
Karen Kingsbury is an amazing author of Christian fiction :)
id definitely recommend her.
And "The Shack" is an amazing book.
and doing "The Purpose Driven Life" is really great too.
:)
When we are placed before the Throne in Heaven, we will be asked by Christ to give an account of our lives, and what we did for HIM.
Our testimony can encourage someone else who may be struggling with something struggled with and now have conquered.
Sooo what has GOD done in YOUR life, what have YOU done for GOD, whats your testimony?
if your a believer, what are some of the things that you are studying in the scriptures, and how are you applying them to your life?
im studying up on 1 corinthians right now, and when im finished with that, im jumping into Luke..just want to see what you guys are getting into. grace and peace!!!
im doing a daily devotional that i got at a disciple now called "31 verses every teenager should know". i love it a lot. it kinda tells a story first, then you read the verse out of your own Bible, then it adds a little more for you to ponder on, and then you answer some questions in the book so that you can kinda look at your own life in a way you may not have thought to.
:) im likin it so far!
Im new to this board and actually got saved a month ago or so. Hi :). I have a really long question.... I have been stuck on the topic of homosexuality.. The Bible states it is sinful because God intended relationships and marriage to be between a man and a woman. I cant say whether they were born this way through genetic components, through environmental factors, or both. I wonder if it was genetic, why would God make them this way (If they are born this way and cant change, are they stuck with sin)? If it were environmental, why are there so many reportings that changing to become heterosexual is unsuccessful and is actually harmful (they only repress these same sex attractions and are not happy)? I have always been accepting of their lifestyles but now I feel it conflicts with Gods ways and I actually feel that I am opposing Him because my beliefs are different. :( I dont want to judge. I want to be loving but it is difficult to say that homosexuals are wrong to say they were born that way because I am not gay.. Im straight. I am ATTEMPTING to see it in the way as if someone were molested, they learned the abuse. Sometimes it happens that the victims abuse later in life for power and control because they felt they never had that. But they repress these urges because they are self aware that is sinful and harmful to do that. What do you guys think about this matter? I am not trying to offend anyone. Im just confused. :(
Hi i know we all make mistakes and i know i am not perfect. I want to stay pure and obstain from sex until marriage but i am a freshmen in college and last semester, i had oral and anal sex with a guy. I now know what i did is wrong and goes against the Lord but i want to know if i am still a virgin still? I would say i am but my best friend says i am not. But whatever i am i know now i am not doing anything with anyone until i am married.
Thanks, DMM :)
There are two sides to this and im sure this will be a huge debate....
First off offensive is a relative term, and one can be offensive or one can say something that is offensive to one person and completely unoffensive to another. So should Christians just try to keep the peace and make everyone happy? I personally think that is impossible and whether a Christian says something offensive or not, someone somewhere will most likely be offended because rather than accepting difference of opinion they become so close minded that they take personal offense to any remark against what they believe.
Side 1: Jesus would want us to be loving towards everyone. True and He had great compassion and love for everyone and also commanded us to love others.
Side 2: We should stand up for our faith which will be offensive sometimes... Matthew 3:7-10 "7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. 9And do not think you can say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father. I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
Matthew 12:34 "34You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks."
Matthew 23:33 33"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?"
I think the pharisees would have been offended at this dont you?
My position is you say what you need to say to glorify God and defend your faith. Say and do whats right, even if someone somewhere finds it offensive.
"The exception is that if your belief pretty much says I want you to die." lol
...Which might be part of the reason people find Christianity offensive; because it can seem like Christians are saying "you should go to Hell, sinner!"
- Christians dont want that... we want people to choose Jesus. The last thing we want is everyone going to Hell, we want everyone in the world in Heaven with us.
"Not that this means anything, coming from me; but if you dont want to be offensive, you have to explain your position with love, and respect(respect that they are equally human as you, respect that they arent complete idiots, and respect that they do actually believe what they believe).
You can(to an extent) have nearly polar opposite beliefs, but if you talk to somebody with love and respect, they will -most of the time- not be offended."
- so who knows if youre(talking about everyone) explaining in a loving, respectful way? cause obviously everyone on this forum has been offended in some form or fashion...
I dont really think supernatural is a definition that can even compare to God. He isnt "magic, ghostly" in the sense that most use the term supernatural.
Im a christian :] I love God and like every other teen i try to live right. Im going to be a senior and still have never had a boyfriend or even dated.Alot of my friends sometimes bug me but i dont give in. I feel that when the time is right God will send me someone.Does any one feel the same?
Hey girl, dont feel down because you have not dated. My best friend has never dated, and of course she feels at times like something is wrong with her, but i try to convince her that nothing is wrong with her, God just has someone picked out for her and shes smart enough to know when to date and when not to. Shes had boys try to take her out, but she just knew each time that person wasnt for her.
I agree with the fact that dating is for marriage, so you really shouldnt date if you dont think they have the potential of being with you forever. Of course you might have relationships where you think at first they have the potential but then they really dont. Just be patient; Gods the only one who has the perfect timing for finding the right person for you :)
