Hey guys, this is Rachel and Ive got some news from VBS! I was assigned to K-2 and these kids have been a blessing to me from God. Not only have these kids put everything into learning what we had for them each night, theyve lifted my spirits as well. They made me remember Matt. 18:2-4 and how Ive relied more on my own understanding than Him during the difficult times. I had to miss out on tonight for VBS because of migraines but I will be up and raring to go for the last night tomorrow! God Bless!
Original Prayer Request (posted 3 Years Ago):
Weve got VBS this week at my home church and Im so excited to be volunteering. Please pray that the Holy Spirit works wonders in the lives of these kids and their parents as well as the workers.
God has certainly answered my prayer and brought me closer into fellowship with Him. I have my moments where I worry about things but its easier to catch myself and remind myself with a verse (i.e. Matt 6:33) to remind myself that Hes in control, Hes gonna provide me with what He knows that I need, and all I need to do is trust and seek Him.
Original Prayer Request (posted 3 Years Ago):
Ive been feeling really stressed out lately after losing my job in May. My degree I just earned is getting me nowhere and I want to figure out if I should go back and if I can with scholarship (because I already have 1 ed loan, dont want 2). Im trying to figure out what God wants me to do.

I am now starting to right "Turn to Jesus Christ" on all my paper money i ever have touch my hands. It is a great habit to start, and it's a great way to witness. Think about all the people who deny Jesus , they will have money with Jesus printed on it ! :DD It's a great message and it's a cool idea. I'm going to start this, and I will probably always have a sharpie on me now haha I suggest writing it with a black sharpie so that its unremovable. Also don't write it too big, but not to small either. The money is still accepted, and God can use this as a tool to reach people. Let me know what you guys think, if you like the idea spread it on . and if not please tell me why? :) thx God Bless
As long as you don't destroy the dollar. I've done Where's George.com (it tracks money as it journeys across the country). Some of their members write and/or stamp on the money and it is considered legal. Here's a question from their site: #8 Is it legal to write on or mark currency? Where's George does not encourage the defacement of U.S. Currency. The law defines 'illegal' defacement as defacement that renders bills unfit to be re-issued.

Got any?
I still struggle with this a little myself and Ill share with you my suggestions. Jakes suggestions are very good and I highly recommend doing what Ray suggested. Check your music and movies against your Bible first and then a site like PluggedIn.com, which is run by Focus on the Family. It has helped me avoid a bunch of bad material and get rid of what I had, so I assure you it is a good tool. You will need to keep your heart and mind guarded, especially while you deal with your cussing habit. I dont replace my cuss words with fluff words, because that just encourages it. If I feel like I want to cuss, I stop for a minute and take a deep breath, so I can think about it. I remind myself that I dont really like these words and why, then I pray about it. It has worked so far for me, so it might work for you. Definitely think more about your words. The Enemy will make this be a hard habit to kick. But with the Lord on your side, youve got help whenever you need it. Heres some verses to keep in mind: "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."-Proverbs 16:24 "A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered."-Proverbs 17:27 "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."-Proverbs 18:21 "A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver."-Proverbs 25:11 "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."- Proverbs 27:17

This thread can be used to give thanks to God for whatever you want! Also post anything that God has recently done in your life or any answered prayers! Let other know what you are thanking God for and how he is working in your life right now!
Im looking forward to and thankful for VBS. I cant wait to see the Holy Spirit move in the lives of these kids. Im thankful that the two Christian women from Iran highlighted in Voice of the Martyrs have been acquitted of all charges! The Holy Spirit has been moving big time in Iran and I cant wait to see what wonders He works next.

when we pary the day is always filled with heartake and sarrow so do we pray enough i come to wonder if we can prayy for the world and have enough time to pray for those we carre about or is it sinful not to pray for all mankind
Like someone said earlier, prayer is a conversation. Ive used it to get a lot of things off my chest for God to hear and I think thats what its for. If Ive got something I need to bring to Him, Ill take it to Him until Ive had my need met. Ive gotten used to if I need to pray in public, Ill just direct my thoughts towards that need while Im doing whatever that doesnt require my full attention (i.e. standing in line, but not driving). You could benefit from doing the same wherever, whenever you feel lead to.

This is a VERY appealing thread for me in particular. If you love food, then tell us what your favorite food is! :) I LOVE Mexican food. I cannot eat enough of it! In particular, salsa, chips, and the delicious, oh so amazing....CIMMMMECHAINGAAA!!!! (i know thats not how you spell it :P but its looks cool.haha) Anyways, what is YOUR favorite food???
I have very varied tastes when it comes to food but my favorite is home-cooked kimchi. Pair that up with sweet rice and dumplings and prepare yourself for one spectacular meal. My second favorite would be a plate of chopped Lexington-style BBQ.

As a believer in Christ, do you have any self-imposed restrictions on what type of movies, music and television shows you watch? just want to hear you guys input...
To Nicole: As long as it doesnt make a joke out of or glorify the sin, Im fine. These are stories of events that need to be passed down so our generation and future generations can be thankful for what freedoms we have. But then you come to the point where Hollywood will twist a story just to make a dollar. Thats when you turn to companies like the History Channel and the like because they will portray it more to the letter than Hollywood ever will, which is why I like their documentaries.

i love listening to worship music when i am down, and a couple of my favs are from hillsong, and desperation band. " from the inside out," and "rescue" whats yours?
I have three favorite hymns/worship songs that I can think of right now. My first favorite hymn is How Great Thou Art. I first heard it at a funeral of all places and when I heard it, it got me to thinking about how great God really is. If it werent for him, I wouldnt be able to withstand some of the things I go through. This hymn stops me in my tracks every time. My second favorite hymn is It Is Well. I cant put into words what this hymn means to me. I remember playing this on the bass clarinet in the eighth grade and I wish I still had the sheet music. My third favorite is My Redeemer Lives as sung by Nicole C. Mullen. This song sends chills down my spine every time. It never fails to move me.

I have struggled with a lot of doubt lately over whether I’m being authentic enough in my walk with Christ. This was the main reason I wandered away from the faith and recommitted in summer 2009. I fought tooth and nail to clear out distractions from my home and there’s a few left that are out of my control because I think they’re not mine to fix (i.e. my parents and their divorce which has been and will be left at the foot of the Cross at all costs). I struggle with anger problems and a couple other issues that make me wonder whether Christ wants to hear me or not. Its pulling me further away from fellowship with Christ and it scares me to think what could happen. And this is the only place I feel comfortable talking about it because I don’t know who else to go without it being spread to everywhere else like gossip. I’m resisting this doubt the best I can but what do I do?
To clarify on anger problems, its more like I get frustrated with little things. My RA in school talked to me about and Ive made some progress, but now that Ive moved back home...Ive got no way to talk to her.

Theres a sever lacking of good, christian movie(s), but there are some. Thought Id post a thread to discuss the movies that are out. I live in GA; and in Albany, GA there is Sherwood Pictures. They have produced Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and are beginning production of Courageous this year ... amazing movies
I apologize if this is really, really long. There was just some things I had to say. :) I have yet to see Flywheel or Facing the Giants but I have seen Fireproof. I rented Fireproof the other week from my library out of three DVDs so that was what my mom and I watched. Both of us agreed that while Fireproof had a lot of wonderful elements to it, it couldve been done better. It felt like one of those short skits you see at church on Sunday morning that has the message for about five minutes and not much else. I didnt get much emotion from Kirk Cameron (except when he was angry) and the short-fuse thing and repeatedly wanting to give up sorta left a bad taste in my mouth for this movie. I wouldve liked to see Erin Bethea act a little less like a teenager when it came to shutting down Caleb Holts efforts to reconcile. Sure, I understand it can be like this in real life but this is too staged and didnt feel that realistic. Other than that, it was an okay movie. I have yet to see Expelled, but I will look for it at my library and hope the DVD isnt so scratched it wont play if it is there. I recommend seeing To Save a Life when it comes out on January 22nd. Building off from what I have seen on the must-see trailer,it has a good message about reaching out to others. I like that the movie strives for what seems like a realistic story. You have to see it when it comes out.

Lets start a prayer chain! Heres how it works: 1) Leave a prayer request by posting a reply to this thread 2) Commit to pray for the person immediately before you in this thread for the next week (be sure to go to the last page if there a multiple pages) Lets see how long we can make this! (P.S. Well pray for the first person who leaves a request)
I posted a request on Facebook, but Ill share it here too: "Pray that 2010 will be a better year for my community. My area is struggling with unemployment. There might be two companies coming to the and could create a few hundred jobs. And those jobs would help many struggling families who have been without work and struggling to make ends meet. I pray that Gods will be done in this matter, whatever it may be."
