So I am off to Afghan here next year and I hear all the time that it is wrong to kill and that stupid stuff. But what about warfare? I believe there is a difference between killing in war and murdering. Ex. If I shoot someone in combat and (tactical situation permitting) after the engagement is over I give him medical attention, or by accepting a surrendering combatant and not brutalizing him, that is a different kind of warfare. What do ya'll think? And no bashing our troops cause that'll make me go crazy.
oooh, i love this one! look man, there's a lot that goes into this one. alot've people will argue "just war" and being a marine i know you've heard tho at term. but whose to say it's a just war? god did not start this war, man did...united states entered the conflict that was provocked by osame. do you think it's a just cause? however. where in the bible does it say repay evil with evil? it doesn't. we are supposed to forgive seventy x seven times. (in retrospect, endlessly).it's a very hard debated situation. i joined the marine corp with the mindset of war is just, the israelites went to war countless times, the old testement is full of war, bloodshed, killing, both armies, and single men. all under gods hand. but when did god tell us to march into the middle east? he didn't. me personally i used to believe this is for the best, however lately i don't think it is so much anymore, jesus taught us to love our neighbors, to treat everybody as we want to be treated, he even says "those who live by the sword will die by it". shane claiborne has several books out, and each of them covers the topics of war, and i must say he has changed my outlook, however you are under contract, fulfill the contract, and be done with it. there's nothing you can do until then. but like i argued against daniel@seekjesusnow under "is working out a sin" thread, jesus will love you, he will forgive you! he died for you, and if you have accepted that, god will accept you!

okay, I think this can get into a cool, heated (figure tht one out) conversation which would be really kool. People can give out ideas and then discuss why some ideas would be distracting or bad ideas. Okay so here is the deal, you have more money than you should have (If i give a price out you will all say charity lol i would) anyways, you can buy anything for the youth room, you can paint it any way you want. What would be the PERFECT youth room? I want creativity! lol and koolness 8)
i like the idea of a lounge setting, but not somewhere that'll distract you from god's message, and his calling, i'd love to have some comfortable couches in rows rather then a pew (bench seats) or even chairs. wall colors i don't think matter as long as it matches your decor, which i love the idea of putting up posters of solid christian movies, artists, maybe bible stories. an old fashioned jukebox with christian music. a well lit stage. and nice solid sound system a comfortable inviting environment, but not one that would invite people for the wrong reasons (ie playstation, xbox. etc

Just wondering what you guys think about them? I have a friend who recently met another Christian girl online - they started "dating" and he went to visit her for a month and I think she plans on taking a return trip here for a visit in the future. Do you guys think long distance relationships work? I personally am not sure. I mean some things to consider are whether the two in the relationship are Christians. Whether they ever visit eachother, and how often. There is definitely the benefit of purity (at least physically) because of the Distance. But do you think that a relationship can grow if there is only long distance communication via phone and skype and stuff (and limited visits of course)? Just wondering what your thoughts are?
psshhh good luck

As some of you know I am a personal trainer, and I have a question and want your opinions. Do you think that working out and participating in fitness activities is a waste of time and useless or even sinful as a christian? As a follower of christ should we not be taking time to workout and stay in shape? What are your thoughts on this?
there's a surprise...daniel@seekgodnow says working out is satanic. in fact, unless you live a monk's life in a monastary in the hills. well i guess your just not christian enough for him. i'm sorry daniel@seekgodnow my parents were not rich, they couldn't send me to a good college or bible school. i fell i with bad people in high school made some worse decisions. and in a failing economy i joined into this "slavery" marine corp! i have tattoos! i DON'T judge people. i drive a 2005 truck with 20" rims, and a toyota supra! but you know what the low down is...? JESUS LOVES ME, JESUS DIED FOR ME, AND GOD ACCEPTS ME! i am a united states marine, i am proud of it, and god has helped me get where i am today! my tattoos glorify god! my truck gets me to church every sunday! and to work every day of the week where i in turn work out, run, and keep my body in shape! and JESUS STILL LOVES ME. i have no bible verses to stand on, so you're only going to push me aside like an ignorant child. but when it all comes down to it JESUS STILL LOVES ME! jesus still loves you when you work out. jesus still loves you tattood and pierced! he still loves you when you hunt, or play guitar, or go to work in the mornings. and to be honest, in the endgame are we not supposed to do two things? Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version) 36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[a] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." if you love the lord while you work out? or love the lord in your tattoos? or when you work on your cars? then are you not loving the lord? i love the united states marine corp! i love working out! i love tattoos! and i love serving the lord!

i think c28 would do well to add some polo shirts. something as simple as a collared shirt with small notw/c28 logo. to maybe a collared shirt with some of the same graphic designs. i love polos, and i would love to see some on this site

this really isn't hard to figure out. and lets do better this time, lets not point any fingers or talk bad about each other. so this is why tattoos and body piercings are sinful: - they are not of God. - they are worldly. you knew that, right? they're worldly because their origin is paganism, which was all set up by devil worshiping people (directly or indirectly, anything that isn't God is demonic). ok, so just because it's worldly, why is it sinful? - because God doesn't want us to be worldly. that's so easy to understand, right? right, but it's so hard to accept, because we're evil. so here's the proof that God doesn't want us to be worldly at all, ever: 1 John 2:15-17 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. really, this website is one of the worst "christian" communities i've ever come across (i've only come across a few) - because you've all been shown the truth repeatedly, and every time your arguments to defend yourself are mere opinions, all personal, and never solid. if you think i'm cruel for saying these things, and for speaking the truth this way - if you think i am not "speaking the truth in love" then you don't know at all what love is. people don't understand the most important things about love - that it's not a feeling. when Jesus rebuked peter for his worldly thinking, He said, "get away from me, satan!" - that's harsh, yes, but was Jesus being cruel? He was harsh, but was that wrong of Him? and when paul rebuked peter *in front of everyone* for his partiality, which i'm sure didn't bring smiles on anyone's faces - did paul go wrong? paul is the one who wrote 1 cor 13, about love, and yet he wasn't unwilling to rebuke peter, to pass judgment on the sinner in 1 cor 5, and to call out the false teachers by name. there are almost no christians at all on this site. and yes, i'm judging you who are of the church, as God commands, and you all condemn yourselves by rejecting that command. ok, so back to tattoos. so you may be one of those silly people who say you want to glorify God with tattoos and maybe earrings or something, who knows. but at any rate, how do you expect to glorify God through worldly, pagan, self-mutilating expensive and irreversible practices? do you think pagans think tattoos are ok? yes, they do. why do some christians, such as myself, condemn tattoos and piercings? because they're pagan. so the issue is, are you ok with pagamism or not? if you are, then you've made yourself a friend with the world, and therefore an enemy of God (james 4:4). it's really that simple, about whether or not tattoos and piercings are sinful. it's this: is paganism sinful? the answer's yes. if you think the answer is no, then you are a pagan, and not a christian. unless you have scripture to defend paganism, don't bother defending tattoos. it doesn't matter if you think you've glorified God through your tattoos, because that used to be the pagan way of glorifying their gods, and you're rinsing and reusing it for the real God. that's horrible. a common way of thinking of how horrible that is is like if a guy is dating his 2nd girlfriend, and he takes the gifts he gave his first girlfriend back from her, and gives them to the new girlfriend. that's pathetic, right? God deserves so much better, but we offer him needles and ink and an outward display. no one on earth glorifies God with tattoos, just as no one can glorify God through any paganism. i'm not even gonna start about how heavy of an insult it is to God to modify your body, especially permenantly... but if you want to check out my article on it, it's here: http://seekgodnow.org/index.php?topic=63.msg89#msg89
LET IT BE! so many have started this topic here at the c28 forums.i don't believe there is a right or a wrong answer...regardless of the origins it is no longer a pagen act. many people praise through words, songs, poems, dance, stories...art, art. tattoos are just that, they are art, they may have rough background but can you honestly stand up and tell me that a tattoo that says praise the lord is pagen? there are so many ways to glorify the lord. the clothes you wear, the car you drive, the way you speak and act, why cant a tattoo be the same? a patch on a bikers jacket? bikers, commonly assumed to be rough, anarchist, evil. but does that make the ones who speak the word of christ wrong? it takes a different kind of people to talk to a different kind of people. a man in a suit is not gonna walk to a biker at a bar, he doesn't belong, and automatically thrown aside, but but a fellow christian biker, tattood, with leather and chaps will reach that other biker! tattoos can be an expression. i don't have upright biblical evidence to throw down, but the verse you put up can also apply to the car you drive? the house you live in? your clothes? how many shirts do you own? does the bible not say if you have 2 coats give one to your neighbor? worldly things, although may be a sin, are everywhere. a tattoo is no more a worldly item then the christian cd you listen to on your way to work! if your spending money on your appearence, on your house, car, clothes, the food you eat, your just as wrong as the guy who spends his money on tattoos. don't judge! and if this is the worst christian forum site you've ever seen, your free to leave! no one here will tell you to. but if your bothered by this small group of believers and they're beliefs, then by all means we'll help you find a forum that you work with! it's different time, it's a different world. our beliefs need to remain the same, but a different game plan is in order when a different enemy is in sight
